Then neither do I! It’s a discussion forum. You can speak freely about anything you care to other than the fact that for me, Good Sam failed & did so miserably. We ended up being on the side of the interstate highway for 11 hours waiting to be towed to a repair shop. THAT is not good customer service it doesn't matter how good anyone elses experience with Good Sam has been. That sir/ma'am is what I mean when I say I honestly don't care. Maybe your service has been superb however the flip side of that coin is mine has not so I don't want to be flamed because I told the other side of their service. Have a good day.Good Sam Roadside Assistance, that didn't assistBefore anyone starts flaming me like many did the guy in a few posts above I will just say, I honestly don't care what any armchair quarterback thinks regarding this posting. I am simply putting it out there to make as many as I possibly can aware of how the service from Good Sam is. ROTTEN!!! The alarm started sounding on our motor home so we pulled over on a the roadside (only place available) on a busy interstate. I called GSRA as soon as I found that the radiator hose was busted & it wasn't something I could fix on the roadside, even though I have all kinds of tools with me. We have now been sitting here for almost 6 hours waiting on a tow. The tow truck driver called us about 20 minutes ago to tell us he is still at least 45 minutes way, The rest of the story is, GS called this company to ask how much the tow would be & then sometime later finally called back to contract with them. Obviously GS wanted a cheaper tow bill but couldn't find anyone so they called this company back, meanwhile the tow company had another call come in so our wait time was significantly extended, to whatever length of time it is until the tow truck gets here. Rather than worry about the customer safety or satisfaction and take the company that could come right out at that time they dilly dallied around before determining they had to take this company's price. I could go on but all of this to say I will NEVER try GS again. This is their second fail at assisting us so that's it for me. I will tell everyone who has ears exactly what our satisfaction rating is for Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Meanwhile we will be right here on the side of the road, praying no one hits us.Re: Cell phone coverage in Alaska? We live on the Kenai Peninsula & most of this area has good/excellent ATT cell service. There are a few spotty areas of coverage but overall it is acceptable between Anchorage & Homer. When going on toward Seward it gets considerably more spotty though.Re: Gnats flying out of the septic tankWe've had that problem a few times too & we have solved it by emptying & flushing out the tanks well & then filling the black tank completely full, adding a cup of bleach. We let it sit for about 20 mintues or so & then drain, no more flies. Someone once told us that the flies stay at the top of the tank & fly out as soon as the toilet flap is opened & that appears to be true. The flush with bleach water does the trick every time for us. Hope you find something that works, that is indeed yucky when you know for sure where they came from! BeckyRe: Bringing a dog into CanadaSame here, I have the shot records but have not been asked to see them just asked if they are current. Never asked for a health certificate at all. It has been smooth sailing through customs on all of our trips, going both ways.Re: FLY TO ALASKA--RENT RVIf you decide to fly up & rent a rv I'd recommend Great Alaskan Holidays but you will need to make reservations soon, they tend to book up quickly from year to year. We flew up & rented for a month long trip (yes it was expensive but was to be "the trip of a lifetime") and it was TERRIFIC. That was in 2001. We came again & rented for 2 weeks in 2002. Then every other summer, beginning 2004 we drove up. Last year (2012) we decided we loved it enough & decided to build a seasonal cabin. As I said, yes it is expensive but it is a great way to see Alaska within the 4-5 weeks you have planned. Good luck with your decision to make the trip. You won't regret it!Re: What are best Food Joints in Texas? If you are traveling I35, going through Hillsboro Texas a great place not too far off your path is Texas Great Country Café. It is located at the intersection of Hwy 22 (Bosque St) & Hwy 933 (Colorado St) in Whitney Texas, which is about 12 miles west of the interstate. The address is 903 S Bosque. They only have a small sign so watch for it on the southwest corner. From the outside the place looks very small so if the parking lot has a lot of cars in it don't let that scare you off, it is bigger than it looks. They have excellent home cooked meals with a huge menu to choose from and a variety of homemade pies & other desserts. I highly recommend this place for any meal if you are in the area. They are open from 6am-9pm. We ate at this place numerous times when we had to be in that area on business. Check it out.Re: Fishing on the KenaiTexas Roadrunner, we are currently in Soldotna & it appears the reds are coming into the Kenai River. There were a few being caught when we drove through Swiftwater Campground while ago.Fuel at Border CityJust some information for those of you that usually fuel (diesel) up at Border City to get cheaper fuel than in Tok. This is no longer the case. There are new owners at Border City now & the fuel today was $4.89 vs $4.57 in Tok. We are in Palmer tonight & fuel here is $4.27. We will go on to Anchorage tomorrow & I'm sure it will be even less there. As I said, just some info for those of you on the way up so you can spend your money on something more fun than diesel. :) Safe travels.Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today???Cleaned out the Endeavor in preparation for moving into our new to us 2006 42' Allegro Bus. Can't wait until our first trip!! Becky & Mac
