Can somebody help me ID this???
I am hoping somebody in the group can help me identify the hookup shown in the attached pictures. We recently purchased a used 2014 Wildcat 272RLX fifth wheel, and the previous owner has this hookup installed. There is a dedicated power line directly from the battery to the panel installed near the floor in the bedroom. This panel includes a power plug, a four conductor wire with the plug cut off, and two PL-259 style antenna connectors. The two coax wires and the four conductor wire all lead to the docking station where they are terminated with two more PL-259's and a four-way connector. Anybody know what this could have been for? We toured pretty much the whole length of Padre Island last winter. There are miles of beach open for boondocking if you are so inclined. Most places require a "parking fee", but they are minimal - usually like $12/year. There are also RV Parks scattered up and down the coast - obviously in the more developed areas. The closest to Corpus is Port Aransas on Mustang Island, and there are several RV Parks there as well as beach access. Most of the RV's we saw on the beach were truck campers on 4WD trucks, or 4WD trucks with smaller, lighter trailers.533Views0likes0CommentsRe: Dog In Camper

Just another related note regarding heading down the Eastern Shore to the Bridge/Tunnel: If you get delayed, and have to stop earlier, there are several campgrounds near the north end of the Bridge/Tunnel. The newest and nicest is the newly renovated KOA close to the Bridge. Pull through sites, full hookups, and brand new shower houses. My two cents on your concerns: We use scrap wood for stabilization jacks and under tires for leveling. I trash pick 2 x 6, 8, and 10's and cut them about a foot long with 45 deg angle on each end. I also have an assortment of 4x4, 4x6, and 6x6 blocks for under the tongue jack and under the stabilizers - as you say, the less you extend the stabilizers, the sturdier they will be. I prefer plain lumber (especially cedar) to pressure treated as it is lighter, and if it splits you can use it for kindling wood. The electric tongue jack is well worth it to me. As said, when you install it make sure you have a slow blow fuse or a circuit beaker in the hot feed. Also pay close attention to the grounding. Most of them are grounded through the bolts to the trailer frame, and those connections corrode frequently. I usually run a separate ground wire from a screw on the power head direct to the battery. A small solar panel to keep the battery topped off can work well, and can easily be installed. More important would be a battery isolation switch to disconnect the battery to avoid all the parasitic loads. A full blown solar system for power when boon docking is much more involved and expensive. Any of the name brand RV air conditioners will install in the same hole you have, and use the same AC power wiring. There might be a difference in the wiring for a remote thermostat, so check what you have first. LED lamps work well, but we had trouble finding ones that gave the color of light we like - most were too bright white for us old farts ....601Views0likes0CommentsRe: Campground near Lafayette Louisiana

As others have said, the hot wire in the trailer wiring harness is intended to allow the TV keep the trailer batteries "topped off" during transit. As you have assumed, the wiring is not really heaving enough to allow enough amps to quickly change a depleted battery. An easy fix is to move the truck up near the trailer, and use a set of jumper cables from the truck battery to the trailer battery(ies). Yes, the truck has to be running, and as said, above idle is better to get full output from the alternator.154Views0likes0Comments
