It sounds idiocy but you get no credit for avoiding a more severe accident if you actually do get into an accident. Commercial truck drivers know this and will almost always hit an offending vehicle just to have it documented to protect their license. Reminds me of an old tv ad "this one was right, dead right".Re: Claim reimbursement time framePm sent 4/2. email said check was mailed. Still trying to find out if check was cashed.Claim reimbursement time frameTwo months ago, we were getting ready to meet up with our camping group and were accidentally locked out of our camper. Roadside assistance was very slow at answering apparently due to the weather and high volume of calls. I called our local rv service shop and they recommended a local locksmith that they used. They got us unlocked and we got underway. Later that evening we were sitting around the campfire and one of our friends, who years ago had suggested that we join Good Sam, reminded me that lockouts were covered. A few days later we returned and I submitted a claim online, with a copy of the bill. I received a confirmation email that stated no further contact was needed, unless they required more information. A few days ago, I went to the roadside assistance site, looking for someway to check the status of the claim. I sent message, but did not get any response. Seems to me that I would have heard something by now.Re: Step motor replacement issuesWhile traveling the Alaskan highway the year before last, my quikee step motor transmission quit. I went to three rv stores and finally found a replacement motor. The bad news was, it cost me 350 Canadian (something like $270 American). I kept the old motor and I finally got around to working on it. I went to local auto parts store and bought the three white plugs that were worn out (about $8). I had a little trouble getting them in place, so I took the metal center piece out, put it in the freezer for a while, then put everything in place. The motor works now, so I guess I have a spare.Re: spare tiresWell, I have to add that the tire made it all the way home, with a little side trip to Washington and Oregon, so it wasn't all that bad. The $150 charge turned out to be about $120 American money. When I look at it as a $100 service call and a $20 old tire, it looks better. The car now has 4 new tires, a brake job and new serpentine belt. Now it just needs a good cleaning and replace one of the door handles that rattled loose.spare tiresWe just returned from our trip to Alaska to our home in Florida. My tires on the MH were about five years old and the fronts had some abnormal wear, even though they only had about 20,000 miles on them, I bought two new ones for the trip. I kept the old tires and took them with us, just in case. I have a small "doughnut" tire in the toad and I was going to get another full size rim and tire to take with us, but didn't get around to it. I thought, wrongly, that it shouldn't be hard to find a car tire. We didn't have any problems with the MH, but had two flats on the toad. One of the flats was into the sidewall and I put the small spare on and drove back to the CG in Stewart BC. The tire guy came out to the campground, took the flat tire and rim to find another tire. He returned with a tire that was a size larger than the other and he said it would be $160 for the tire and another 20 for him. He agreed to take one of my MH tires for $50 off the price. When he returned with the mounted tire, the total was $150. I didn't argue and he charged my cc and left the tire on the ground. After he left, I put the "new" tire on the car and discovered that it was 10 1/2 years old!Re: Spearfishing from Bahia Honda in the Keys???Unless the situation is that FWC stops you in the park to do a check and you have fish with holes in them and you have in your possession a speargun. Ok, on edit, this from fwc site In any body of water under the jurisdiction of the Environmental Protection, Recreation and Parks. (Possession of spearfishing equipment is prohibited in these areas, unless it is unloaded and properly stored.) I would not stop in park waters coming back in.Re: question about using toilet when hooked up at homeTell them the toilet is broken and they have to use the one in the house.Re: EZ-PassWhat if you get a ticket in another state and you don't pay. I think all states now have reciprocity, you get dl suspended. What if your in a mh and not pulling anything, but a car is three feet from your rear end. Do you get charged for towing vehicle.Re: Class A vs 5th WheelI just went the other way and now have a class A (30'). I used to have a 31' 9000lb fw. When pulling the fw, I never had to think about trucks passing me or winds (other than slowing me down some) and hooking up was quick and easy. Wife wanted a mh and my back has issues, so I said ok, as long as she could help with the driving and she has. When driving the fw and back got sore, if she drove, I sit where? In passenger seat. Now I can relax in the MH. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages.
