The 04-05 trucks need custom tuning to make it work right and the 06-07 trucks already have the tuning from the factory to run the brake. Also the lockup and shift schedules can be modified to greatly improved the 48re towing performance. My truck will lock in manual 2nd at 25mph. Also in drive it will now lock in 3rd and hold lockup shifting to 4th. The 4th gear shift has also been remapped to happen at a far better road speed than stock. My tow haul button has been changed to an overdrive off button which is perfect for long steep climbs in locked 3rd and the lockup stays locked now even when coasting in 3rd. I really want an exhaust brake on it, but I simply can't afford another $2000 right at this time. Is there anywhere to buy a used one? Any tips to save some $$$? Thanks Wish I would have seen this earlier! Your 06 can run an exhaust brake from the factory ecm with no aftermarket controller necessary. All you need is the pacbrake (brake only kit) and an air compressor setup. Then all you have to do is follow these directions: Pacbrake Instructions For the ecm wiring you need 2 of the Cummins pigtails (Cummins part number 3164263). Just follow the wiring diagram in the pacbrake instructions and you'll be good to go. The 06-07 ecm has all the parameters needed to run the brake, you just have to plug it into the ecm. Next step is getting your transmission tuned for towing: Https://www.mm3tuning.comRe: New to RV'ing, many questionsI'm not sure you could drive in a regular car and see all that in three weeks. We once tried to plan a cross country with 20 something days and figured out real fast that it's a two month trip to do it right. RV travel is much slower than driving a car for a bunch of reasons already mentioned above. You either need more time or less distance to travel.Re: Mojave National PreserveDropped Pin https://goo.gl/maps/ufZCPH2k9zN2 Here is where we spent the night, just outside the preserve.Re: Added a time delay relay to our AC Compressor bob213 wrote: I agree SoundGuy. I have seen it done with one of these added inline before the thermostat on the fan wire. I was just curious if I could use the one in this thread on the fan wire? Delay timer I know on our rig all the HVAC wires are 12v DC so that time delay you show wouldn't work. I do have one of those used in a different application though! This is the timer I used: Relay on ebayRe: Added a time delay relay to our AC CompressorInteresting! I'll have to mess around with changing it to start compressor 1st. Thanks.Added a time delay relay to our AC CompressorI installed a time delay relay in our HVAC thermostat that starts the ac fan and then about 10 seconds later the compressor. This spreads the total startup load out over a longer time and makes it much easier for an inverter generator to kick over an AC unit. AC Time Delay Relay on YoutubeRe: 8 y/o Fresh Water Tank PumpYou might check for an inline filter screen right at the pump. Ours has one that can be disassembled. Every so often it gets some gunk in it and needs a cleaning.Re: Winnebago 27PE Vista or Airstream 25FBHaving a slide makes a huge difference in space for your rig, and I always liked the idea of unhitching and having your vehicle to explore with than the idea of dinghy towing. The dingy would be superior for a mechanical breakdown though...Re: Packing ez lube bearingsEVERY time I used the "ez lube" fitting it blew the axle seal and I had no brakes on that wheel. It's a huge hassle to pull the wheel apart and remove a tube of grease from the brake shoes and drum. I don't use them at all. This was even the case with new axle seals.
