I grew up in the 1950's with my family having Farmers Insurance and one agent. He not only insured my parents but then my sisters and brother and then me when we each became of age and driving. He was a great persoanl agent back in the day. I stayed with Famers for years after becoming an adult and married myslef but with a different agent and area then the one I lived in as a child growiung up. I thnnk for the most part gone are those days. National General, Good Sams insurance is so big they do not have its own local agents or adjusters and they contract out, and there is the prpoblme or at least the problme we ran into in July of 2016 and the hail storm we were cought in. The people in the insurance company were far removed from that friendly one on one relation with the customer and more focueed on cutting their costs. If it were not for the honesty of the repair shop owner they sent us to we would not have been serviced well at all. We were actually told by our phone representative handling our case the owner should not have said the things to us he did about how National General was just trying to do it on the cheap and he in good conscience could not do it. She said he works for us. I was thankful he was working more for his customers and protecting his BBB A rating than doing the cheap fix for the insurance company.Re: Using Automotive Antifreeze in Black Grey Water DrainsWell thank you all for the responses LOL I did learn a thing or too from it all. I have and use the non toxic RV Anti Freeze and was just curious not thinking about automotive antifreeze being hazardous waste. The sewer lines as well as the Motor Home valves have frozen when the temperature dropped below 0 and so was just wondering what others do or use as the "Pink Stuff" from Walmart did not keep the sewer lines and gray water valves on the motor home from freezing up. In fact even though it says protects to -50 it has turned to pink slush in the jug when it got down to below zero Happy days to allUsing Automotive Antifreeze in Black Grey Water DrainsIs there any harm in using the Automotive antifreeze in the gray water drains? I understand it is toxic and why why we use RV Antifreeze to winterize, but do not know if there is any concerns to damage to drain seals, drain lines using automotive antifreeze We are full timers and in snow country this year. It has had some colder than normal winter days dropping below zero and resulting it the gray water lines freezing. I only need to pour anti freeze into the gray water drains so just wondering it is safe for the gray water plumbing and such to use the automotive brand over the RV antifreezeRe: National General Insurance hagenlmh wrote: In October of 2015 I cancelled my State Farm Insurance and opted for Good Sam National General for our Diesel pusher and TOAD. The premium was $1204. Earlier this year I saw a post on a Facebook forum about a user getting a $600 increase with no claims history. A couple months ago I got a renewal notice with a premium of $2,338.00 and I had absolutely no claims! Needless to say I'm dropping them like a hot potato. This is clearly a Bait & Switch tactic on the part of National General. I would hope that Good Sam investigates this company's premium increase history to see how common this is. I contacted a Good Sam agent who would write a NEW policy for a very reasonable premium but I now have no trust or confidence in National General even if the premium was free. I hate dishonest companies. Iam shocked to read this and I have my own post going under Good Sam Insurance about National GeneralRe: Hail Damage Insurance ClaimIn all fairness to Stacy I have to say she has been doing her job,and that is to monitor this site and try and give good customer service by forwarding on the information to those who deal with it. We were given a call today from Neal a supervisor at National General Insurance because of Stacy's work passing along information. Trouble is he only gave my wife what we already knew and that was that Mark Williams with National General was talking with the owner of the RV repair shop, they did send us to, about a revised estimate and what repairs he would be authorized to do. I got in touch with the owner of the RV shop and he says he has not heard anything since last Friday! The call amounted to nothing more than an attempted PR call and further stall. Neal, the supervisor at National General said we would hear something within 48 hours. Why does it take so long? I remain hopeful National General will treat us and our damage claim with professionalism and do right by their RV repair shop and us as their customer. I just can not understand why it is taking so long to give the repair shop a fair and descent work order and price. Both this RV repair shop and Camping World have said to replace the TPO roof on our 2015 Motor Home from the hail damage at minimum would cost around $7,000 and they are not providing for that. They only first said $1,200 for the roof and why the RV shop rejected it. So at this time I can not recommend anyone to use the Good Sam Insurance that is National General. I am trying hard to be fair with them but this is really insane for a reputable Insurance Company to not know how to process a legitimate claim by an adjuster they hired and said the roof needed to be replaced with OEM! They seem tobe playing games and keeping the repair shop, they chose to do an honest job. I wonder if Camping World is given this run around or if they are better able to submit a fair honest estimate and get paid for it by National General? The longer they fool around with the cost of the repair the longer it will be till we can be given an appointment, and the locals here say they have gotten snow for Halloween. The next 48 hours will tell what kind of company National General really is or the individuals responsible for fairly processing the claim.Re: Hail Damage Insurance ClaimI wish I could tell the community all is good with the Good Sam insurance claim but I can not! I can understand the long delay in getting in for repairs due the magnitude of damage claims that there are from the July 28 Hail Storm in Colorado Springs, but I cannot understand or appreciate the additional delay the insurance company is creating. The repair shop, the Good Sam insurance company sent us to said on Friday that National General had contacted him saying they would rewrite our estimate, that was first way too low. The repair shop owner said he just wants to be sure they can do the job in the proper way. He is a very honest good guy with an A+ rating with the BBB. On Monday the repair shop owner said he has not heard back from National General. Seriously that is unacceptable. Today Tuesday we called our Insurance representative at 11am to ask where we are with our claim? We need to get it in and repaired B4 the winter snow weather here in Colorado Spring sets in, and we have no appointment date set yet. The delay our insurance company is creating is just not fair treatment for any customer but for us in snow country and full timers it is really disturbing, and is not the image Good Sam has for the Rv community. The hold up is National General wanted to cut cost and use a product, RV Armor instead of full normal replacement of our TPO roof their adjuster, they sent out said needed to be replaced OEM. The RV Armor we were told by a Supervisor at National General on Friday to please checkout, does seem to be a great product and I have had communications with someone from RV Armor but they require their own trained certified technicians to do the work. This is something our repair shop rejects. It is a 2-3 day process and they will not turn their shop over to someone else to do the work. So here we sit and no response today from National General, nothing from the repair shop, nothing from Good Sam except each time I post something they say they will look into it. National General should be able to fairly process a legitimate claim much fast than this and be in touch with us without us having to call them to find out what is going on.Re: Hail Damage Insurance ClaimOK this is Pops again following up with our situation with the hail damage claim with the Good Sam insurance that is National General. First of all it needs to be understood that the hail storm that hit Colorado Springs July 28 was massive and repair shops are all back up doing repairs still. National General refereed us to a family owned RV repair shop that does work with/for them because Camping World here could only give us an appointment for Oct 18. National General did send this RV shop a check for $7,125 for the repairs out on Aug 23 based on what the adjuster they sent wrote up. The check is made out to us and this RV shop. We did bring it back with us and is now in our possession. We got an appointment with this RV repair shop for them to inspect the damage for yesterday Sept 7, This is the time line in how long it is taking us to get the needed repairs done. The owner of the RV repair shop did tell us he does do work for National General but is not happy with the way the are doing business. He said they are not doing right by the customer in the hail damage to the roofs. He said he was rejecting to do the work for us under the guidelines National General has been giving him. They only want to pay for what he said was cosmetic repair of the roof and using a less expensive product than the OEM TPO roof we have. I am totally confused as reading the report they sent him it states to replace OEM Rubber Roof $1,260. So OEM to me means we get what we have replaced with what we had, no substitutes. The owner of the RV shop said we would not be served well buy this deal so said he was also thinking about dropping doing any future work for National General. He also pointed out the claim said $95/hr and it is $120/hr So we contacted our National General Insurance representative and explained all this and now are waiting to hear back from them on where we go from hereHail Damage Insurance ClaimWe have our Good Sam insurance with National General Assurance Company. We were among the many in Colorado Springs who got hit by the big Hail Storm on July 28 2016. It has been a long wait getting car windshields replaced and even longer wait for getting an appointment for RV damage repairs. Camping World gave us an October 18 appointment and told us to just coverup the open hole we have where the shower skylight was. The large hail just broke that all up. The roof is all dented up and there is even a few cuts in the rubber roof from the hail. Our awning is damaged as are the toppers over the slide outs. National General did contract with an insurance adjuster to come out but they do not actually have their own. He came out just last night and took pictures and will electronically submit his report to National General. We now have the understanding someone or some board at the insurance company will decide how much or what they will pay for and send us a check. I thought it was going to be a guide line for the Motor Home repair shop what to schedule us for as until the rubber roof is removed no one can determine the hail damage to the roof and protect against any future leaks. My question here is asking if anyone has had any experience with hail storm damage and Good Sam Insurance?Re: 2015 Ford Triton V10 engine oil Filler capThat's what I have planned on doing just thought there might be a different way but will do exactly that now2015 Ford Triton V10 engine oil Filler capI had the oil changed in December at a Camping World and then took the Motor Home back to the RV park and has been parked ever since. Now we are getting ready to get on the road again and I find the engine oil filler cap is missing! I am looking for a replacement but see there are different ones and not sure which will fit or what Ford vehicle to compare the Motor Home with on the Ford Parts list. Anyone have any idea? http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2015/ford/f350_super_duty/engine_mechanical/oil_filler_cap.html
