Chassis batteries not charging
I have a 2006 Tiffin Allegro Bay 38TDB Freightliner 26000. I currently have a TrippLite inverter/charger and have been plugged in to shore power constantly for over a year. I had to replace the 3 year old house batteries a couple of months ago due to the 12v system going down several times. Before the haters start hating please know that I never contemplated owning much less living in an RV. I got cancer and lost my home in 23 and was forced into this life. I am mechanically inclined and most of the repairs I have had to do myself as I now live on disability. Mechanic's daughter. I start the coach every once in awhile as I feel that it's necessary to let the fluids flow periodically in any engine. Yesterday, I went to start it since I'm moving to a different location and when I turn the key....nothing. That is the first time it hasn't started.Attempted to disconnect the series (2 6v deep cycles wires in a series) to charge them individually, and the charger won't charge. My voltmeter read 4.7 in each 6v. Help!?!? I don't know what to do now. Please be kind and helpful. I don't need negative comments. Thank you in advance for any help offered.46Views0likes10CommentsQuestion about Freedom 458 Inverter
Hi, I have a 2003 Allegro Bus 35IP. It has the Xantrex 458 Charger/Inverter option. I may need to replace the Xantrex and I am trying to figure out some of the factory wiring, specifically regarding the output from the inverter. There appear to be 2 AC circuits (2 20 AMP romex wires) coming out of the Xantrex inverter. I cannot determine where these are fused or how they tie into the primary 120v system. The main 120v Fuse panel has no current through it when the inverter is on (makes sense as to not backfeed the inverter) - yet all the branches work and have power. So really I have two questions: Are there fuses for the 2 output circuts from the inverter, if so where are they located? How does the inverter outputs tie into the 120v system without energizing the main 120v fuse panel?19Views0likes1Comment2012 Phaeton Random Ding
We just purchased a 2012 40ft Phaeton with just under 70k miles. It dings an alert randomly, with no warning or light indicating the issue. Everything looks fine on the dash. The ding plays over the music (dimming music when it alerts) so we can’t find where it’s coming from. Everything is working properly, seatbelts clasped, awnings tight, etc. Only dings when driving, not at idle. Any thoughts?23Views0likes1Comment1999 Damon Intruder lost all power
I was on my way back from a long weekend. We were on the expressway and 30 minutes from home. My RV lost all power. The engine stopped, the dash was out, no steering, no breaks, nothing. Doing 55 MPH, I put it in neutral and tried starting, nothing. Luckily, we were able to get to the shoulder and come to a stop. I put it into part and tried to start. Again, nothing. Not even the electric break made noise when I turned on the ignition. Good thing for Good Sam. They arranged a tow truck and brought the RV home. Has anyone had an issue like this? Thoughts?231Views0likes26Comments97 Ford 460 issues
I have a 97 Fleetwood pace arrow vision on the Ford F53 chassis with the 460 v8 gas engine. 33k miles on rig. New aluminum 80 gallon fuel tank and FoMoCo sourced fuel pump. After driving for roughly 2 hours I lose power and can't get over 2k rpms without the engine bucking and shaking, if I continue the check engine light will come on. If I shut off the engine for a minute or more all is normal again after restart though for how long varies. I did have a problem with the distributer bolt being loose and the timing getting messed up which I set as well as I could as due to the design of the dog house I can't get anywhere near seeing the timing marks without putting my face into a spinning fan blade. If anyone has a suggestion on how to fix that issue also I'd appreciate it. Oh before anyone asks the rig is OBD1 even though it's a 97 so pulling a code without the check engine light on doesn't work109Views0likes5Comments12 Volt Power Issue
We have a Forest River 2015 Legacy 340BH. Our chassis batteries were low, so just started the generator and held the Aux switch while trying to start the coach. Within a minute everything went dead. Installed new chassis batteries, and everything is working there, however no 12Volt power to the coach except when the engine is running or we’re holding the Aux switch. At that time the disconnect switch on the wall in the coach works too. If we turn the ignition off or let go of the aux switch, the disconnect switch on the wall doesn’t work and we don’t have 12 Volt power in the Coach. In addition, connecting to shore power doesn’t provide 12Volt power in the coach. We’ve also verified the coach batteries are fully charged. We’ve checked everything we can think of and feel fairly confident it’s a blown fuse but have not been able to locate it. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. We do have an appointment in early February if nothing else.Solved322Views0likes14CommentsShower Drain Hepvo Valve
Well, I did it this time... I didn't realize my shower was protected by a Hepvo valve, and I used a wire to clear a hair clog. And, I tore the whole valve out of the pipe. Problem is that there is no room to replace it under the shower. There's only 3/4 inch space between the floor and valve, and same between the shower floor and valve. Can't fit a strap wrench on it, there's no way to turn it even if I could. Had an RV repair guy look at it, and he confirmed that I'd have to remove the entire shower to replace this piece. With this valve missing, the smell is terrible while showering. Question: Is there any other type of valve that I could install at the top of the shower drain? Maybe in the catch basket before the water goes down the pipe? Anyone have a suggestion?46Views0likes0CommentsWindshield continuously pops out.
I bought a used 2000 Fleetwood Bounder 39Z. the previous owner and friend of mine noticed the gasket had come loose on the passenger side top corner. So he had a glass guy reset the glass, so it wasn't leaking. I had it out driving it around and having some minor work done and it was leaking air again. so, I took it to a guy who got it pushed back into place again. it has now come out for a third time and I'm hearing from some other glass companies this is a common issue, but no one seems to know how to fix it or what needs corrected so it doesn't continue to happen. Has anyone had this issue and know of a solution?87Views0likes1CommentManually inflating rear airbag on a 1995 Gulfstream Sunsport
I can't get the electronic controls up front to work, so I'm trying to figure out if there is a manual way to get the fill valves to open on the airbags so I can raise up the rear for towing. I've located the box that contains what is most likely a solenoid for each back and it has a lever sticking out of it. However, I can't budge the lever by hand. Does anyone have any documentation on how you can do this process manually, if at all?305Views0likes0Comments
