Warning: Ongoing Issues and Registration Violation – My Experience with Sundance RV Shelton, WA
I’m sharing this in hopes of helping other RVers avoid the headache I’ve experienced. In May 2025, I purchased a fifth wheel (toy hauler) from Sundance RV in Shelton, WA. Before finalizing the sale, I hired a certified third-party RV inspector. Based on that inspection, the dealership agreed to complete several repairs as part of our purchase contract, including: A full roof reseal and resealing of exterior caulking and loose trim (for which I was charged $1,000) Repairing a broken drawer Replacing a non-functioning front LED light strip Repairing a motion-activated exterior light and the central vacuum Fixing the rear entry door, which would not close and latch properly without force Unfortunately, most of these items were not completed prior to delivery—including the roof reseal I paid for. I had to camp at the dealership for 5 days while they attempted to complete the work. During that time: Their technician made the patio sliding doors worse; they eventually came off the track entirely. The front LED light strip was never actually replaced. They initially tried to "repair" the existing one, which only illuminated at about 50% brightness. They later ordered a replacement strip but failed to secure it properly, and it has since detached and is now hanging by the wire. The drawer broke again after one day of use and had to be repaired a second time. The central vacuum and rear entry door were never addressed. Despite “fixing” the sliding patio doors, they quickly deteriorated—ball bearings began falling out daily, and both doors later detached from the upper track. Worst of all, the rear awning completely detached while I was parked with the patio down, nearly injuring my dog who was sunbathing underneath. A certified RV technician later confirmed it had been mounted to the wrong track, a dangerous and preventable installation error. I reported all of these issues to the dealership. While they acknowledged some and re-did the roof reseal after I returned, they ultimately refused to accept responsibility for any further repairs. I received an email stating they “would not be covering any of the requested repairs” and that any future communication would need to go through legal channels. I understand I did not purchase an extended warranty, but that does not excuse the dealership from completing promised repairs or ensuring the unit was safe and functional upon delivery. There still must be basic accountability for agreed-upon work and obvious failures in workmanship. Then came the most serious issue: vehicle registration. I was repeatedly told it had been submitted and that I would receive my plates in the mail. Weeks later, while traveling out of state, I contacted the Washington Department of Licensing and discovered that no registration or title transfer had ever been filed. I was unknowingly driving with expired temporary tags, putting me at risk for legal penalties, impoundment, or worse. Sundance later admitted they had submitted the wrong paperwork and had still not obtained the title from the prior lienholder. They recently offered to send me a new temporary tag—but this does not resolve the months of misinformation or legal noncompliance. I’ve since filed formal complaints with: The WA Department of Licensing The WA Attorney General Consumer Protection Division The Better Business Bureau I’ve also shared this story across RV forums to warn others. While I’m new to RVing, I understand that repairs and unexpected issues happen. But a dealership that refuses to honor its written agreements and fails to meet even legal obligations is where I draw the line. If you’re considering doing business with Sundance RV, I strongly recommend getting everything in writing, keeping detailed records, and hiring your own technician for a full inspection. And if you’ve already had a similar experience, I’d be happy to share the steps I’ve taken to file complaints.98Views1like4CommentsDometic DMC4101 Problem
I have the above 12V fridge and the evaporator freezer fan stopped working. Blue blinking light in fridge compartment. From my searches I have found that this is either a fan failure (4453000635) or the Control bd failure (4453000636). No one has this fan in stock and I have been able to locate a Control Board. (Have tried like motors to no avail.) I have sent Dometic a message several weeks ago and have not heard back from them. I have had some minor problems before with this unit but have been able to address them. The company does NOT support their products by having parts available. I am almost at the point of chucking this 2 yr. old fridge and getting a Residential. Two points: 1. Do not purchase this product and 2, does anyone have luck with a Residental Fridge.....10 cu. Model and make please. I am a full timer, basically hooked up to shore power at my site most of the time. It is a good thing this did not happen on the road. I personally, will never buy another Dometic product other than the toilet I have which works well. (no joke intended)115Views0likes3CommentsInsight re: purchase
Hello, seeking insight: we are considering an opportunity to purchase an "older" 5th wheel - approx 13-14 yrs old. Not used for over the road travel, rather a seasonal site. Our intended use would be similar in same location. Seeing lifespan estimates about 5th wheels and trailers in general online, feeling a bit nervous about a big investment ($18k), but it does on the whole seems clean, very well kept and maintained, and like it is a decent deal vs what we are seeing for the range on newer models. Was hoping for #1: any considerations and thoughts about buying a used model in this age bracket - does it matter if it hasn't been on the road (surely tires are shot just from sitting). Amd #2: Would also appreciate specific things to look at and watch out for when considering purchase and going to look it over in person. Thanks in advance!199Views0likes13CommentsNo 12 Volt without converter
So my recently acquired 2002 Jayco Qwest 253D fiver suddenly has absolutely no power when not connected to shore power. Both batteries are showing 12.5 volts, so seem good, but not getting charged by converter. All electric works fine with shore power, but no 12 volt at all without shore power. All the regular 12 volt fuses are good. There is no battery shut off switch as i haven’t gotten around to installing one yet. Someone told me there is an automatic disconnect switch that might have gone bad, but i can’t locate one. I’d appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks!Solved108Views0likes8Comments2019 attitude landing gear motor issues
I have a 2019 attitude that every time I go down on my landing gear, it pops the inline fuse. I have changed the motor the switch the short circuit relay even with the motor not connected and just sitting there, it still pops the fuse. I thought it went straight to the battery, but it looks like it goes Under the trailer, somewhere. Where else might it go that I'm missing? And why would it just short out on the down or extend?31Views0likes4CommentsFifth Wheel Hitch Types (air/flexible/...)
Looking to tow a very heavy 5th wheel trailer (with an F-550 or such). I've seen 5th wheel hitches that mount flat, hitches that articulate, hitches that have air bags, etc..) I can imagine that a flat hitch on the truck can flex the heck out of the trailer - so it seems like I want one with air or at least some articulation points in it, but it's difficult to find in 25k lbs or more. How important are these features, particularly considering that I need to drive over some dirt roads (that's the reason the trailer is so heavy - I got a custom trailer with a massive frame so I don't have to worry about things like frame flex).30Views0likes0CommentsBad tail light wiring
Hi All - I have a problem with the left tail light on my new to me 2002 Jayco Qwest. The tail light itself works, but the turn signal, brake, and flasher do not. Everything works correctly on the right side. I assumed the problem was a bad bulb, but it turns out I’m only getting about 2 volts to the wire that powers the turn break and flashers. I’ve reached in and pulled out that wire as far as I can and from what I can see there are no bad connectors there. Anyone have any thoughts as to how I can get a new wire routed to that light. I don’t see any access inside or from the bottom. Just FYI , the wire scheme is as follows: Right light (works) Tail light - Green Turn, brake, Flash - Brown Left light (only tail light works) Tail light - Green Turn, brake, Flash - Red (only 2 volts). Thanks, Any help appreciated.Solved137Views0likes5CommentsElectrical Outlet issues

Hello, I’m wondering if there is an estimated percentage increase in fully loaded tongue weight of a fifth wheel trailer when appropriately loaded to capacity, versus the factory listed dry tongue weight? for example, the trailer I’m looking at purchasing has a listed dry tongue, weight of 1930 pounds. The maximum trailer gross vehicle weight is 12,000 pounds. The trailers carrying capacity for cargo fluids, etc. is 3239 pounds. I’m trying to make sure the truck I would choose for fifth wheel can accommodate the fully loaded tongue weight. Is there a way to estimate the increase in tongue weight when the trailer is fully loaded to get a reasonable approximation? Some good technical input would be appreciated. This Northwoods Foxmountain Slide Out design just can't be right. The manufacturer wouldn't fix it and sent me to a dealer. Bish RV (dealer) said it was designed this way and they wouldn't fix it. The top comes in first and then the bottom will come in causing the upper trim to bend. Can't find any schematics. Need someone familiar with this.214Views0likes2Comments
