Warning: Ongoing Issues and Registration Violation – My Experience with Sundance RV Shelton, WA
I’m sharing this in hopes of helping other RVers avoid the headache I’ve experienced. In May 2025, I purchased a fifth wheel (toy hauler) from Sundance RV in Shelton, WA. Before finalizing the sale, I hired a certified third-party RV inspector. Based on that inspection, the dealership agreed to complete several repairs as part of our purchase contract, including: A full roof reseal and resealing of exterior caulking and loose trim (for which I was charged $1,000) Repairing a broken drawer Replacing a non-functioning front LED light strip Repairing a motion-activated exterior light and the central vacuum Fixing the rear entry door, which would not close and latch properly without force Unfortunately, most of these items were not completed prior to delivery—including the roof reseal I paid for. I had to camp at the dealership for 5 days while they attempted to complete the work. During that time: Their technician made the patio sliding doors worse; they eventually came off the track entirely. The front LED light strip was never actually replaced. They initially tried to "repair" the existing one, which only illuminated at about 50% brightness. They later ordered a replacement strip but failed to secure it properly, and it has since detached and is now hanging by the wire. The drawer broke again after one day of use and had to be repaired a second time. The central vacuum and rear entry door were never addressed. Despite “fixing” the sliding patio doors, they quickly deteriorated—ball bearings began falling out daily, and both doors later detached from the upper track. Worst of all, the rear awning completely detached while I was parked with the patio down, nearly injuring my dog who was sunbathing underneath. A certified RV technician later confirmed it had been mounted to the wrong track, a dangerous and preventable installation error. I reported all of these issues to the dealership. While they acknowledged some and re-did the roof reseal after I returned, they ultimately refused to accept responsibility for any further repairs. I received an email stating they “would not be covering any of the requested repairs” and that any future communication would need to go through legal channels. I understand I did not purchase an extended warranty, but that does not excuse the dealership from completing promised repairs or ensuring the unit was safe and functional upon delivery. There still must be basic accountability for agreed-upon work and obvious failures in workmanship. Then came the most serious issue: vehicle registration. I was repeatedly told it had been submitted and that I would receive my plates in the mail. Weeks later, while traveling out of state, I contacted the Washington Department of Licensing and discovered that no registration or title transfer had ever been filed. I was unknowingly driving with expired temporary tags, putting me at risk for legal penalties, impoundment, or worse. Sundance later admitted they had submitted the wrong paperwork and had still not obtained the title from the prior lienholder. They recently offered to send me a new temporary tag—but this does not resolve the months of misinformation or legal noncompliance. I’ve since filed formal complaints with: The WA Department of Licensing The WA Attorney General Consumer Protection Division The Better Business Bureau I’ve also shared this story across RV forums to warn others. While I’m new to RVing, I understand that repairs and unexpected issues happen. But a dealership that refuses to honor its written agreements and fails to meet even legal obligations is where I draw the line. If you’re considering doing business with Sundance RV, I strongly recommend getting everything in writing, keeping detailed records, and hiring your own technician for a full inspection. And if you’ve already had a similar experience, I’d be happy to share the steps I’ve taken to file complaints.98Views1like4CommentsHappijac beds in garage not lowering
SO I thought I would post this in case anyone has the same issue with their beds in the back of a toy hauler. I brought my trailer out of storage this past weekend. I am going camping this weekend so Ive been going through it getting everything ready. I went to lower the beds in the back and fond they wouldn't come down. They would raise up and finally got to the point where they wouldn't move at all as the upper bunk hit the limiting switch. I found instructions on their website of things to check. I tested the switch and lower limit switch. Both worked as they should. Obviously it had power as the bunks did move up. I finally reached up and released the brake so the beds came down. I hit the switch again and now the bunks wouldn't go up or down. Tracked down the fuse and it was blown. SO I replaced the fuse and was back to the beds going up but not down. I checked the connections at the module and motor and they looked ok. Put everything back together and won't go down. I grabbed a phone cable to test the connection between the switch and module and still no change. I then decided to unplug the limiting switches and no it wouldn't move. Plug them back in and found the wires have to be a closed circuit for the bed to move. So I jumped the one set of terminals and bed moved up. I then jumped the terminals on the other set and the bed moved down. Ok maybe the wires between the module and lower switch were bad. I cut off the connector and joined the wires then plugged it into the module therefore bypassing the witch and wiring. Bed wouldn't drop down again. It turns out that the little crappy connector that plugs into the module was the issue. If I just join the the terminals together the bed now works just fine as it did before. I will now make a proper pigtail at work and get rid of that junk they use. Simple fix.18KViews0likes11CommentsSTEALTH NOMAD TOY HAULER. BUYER BEWARE!
Warning! Anyone thinking of buying one of these units DO NOT! For the record, this is our eighth camper we have owned over the course of 20 years. We know the drill and have many experiences with manufacturers. Never have we been treated this bad before Stealth. Purchased our 2020 24' FB in March of 2020. First noticed massive water leak around rear window in Jan 2021. Went round and round with them for months! Horrible communication and follow through with their warranty department! Finally got a check in the mail for labor costs but never received any materials. We couldn’t wait any longer and began the repairs, FYI we are a registered repair shop. Holy **** did we literally open Pandora's Box! The construction, fit and finish and lack of craftsmanship was appalling! Every window and door entry leaked and had voids in sealant! Throughout the whole unit, multiple fasteners were missing! The freshwater vent hose kinked and blew floor apart! The bathroom plumbing leaked. The roof was not properly reinforced for the Air Conditioner weight and almost fell through! And the list goes on and on. We have tried working with Stealth and was just passed on from one person to the next. I have a documented timeline verifying everything and how they totally dropped the ball in this disaster and yet they have the Gaul to tell us they will not cover their absolutely horrible construction of this unit. So now our goal... to make sure no one else gets burned like we did! I will be posting on all RV social mediate websites and forums. If you know of any others, please let me know. Anyone else with the same issue, please reach out to me, {SNIP} MOD'S EDIT: Please review the forum rules, especially this one: Forum Rules wrote: Posts are not allowed in which a local, state, or federal consumer action board and/or legal counsel is/have been involved. Strongly considering getting one of these, a new 2016 model. I have a 3/4 ton Ram 2500 diesel that's been towing my 32' 5th wheel around for the past few years. Considering the down sizing for a multitude of reasons. Is a weight distribution/sway hitch still going to be needed on a smaller toy hauler like that?1.9KViews0likes8CommentsAdding a Toy Hauler Extension
I am thinking about putting a toy hauler extension on my enclosed car trailer and am curious if anyone has done this to their toy hauler and what they like or dislike about it. Also, I'm curious what others think of this even if they have no experience using it. I don't know how to do a clicky, but it is, toyhaulerextensions.com7KViews0likes13CommentsComplete List of Toy Haulers

Looking to purchase a toy hauler but need more garage space than I have been able to find. Not very familiar with all the different brands. Can someone give me some ideas of what company offers a larger garage area? Tow vehicle is new Ford dually so "size doesn't matter"...7.4KViews0likes12Commentspurchased a custom dune sport toyhauler
We purchased a custom dune sport toyhauler. received it in early oct, sadly only had time for one trip. this is the only company that i know of that actually allows one to draw your own floor plan, down to the floor tie downs. this floor plan is my design, specifically for i and my wifes use. to haul our sand rail to the sand dunes, with the occasional camping trip. clearly this floor plan isn't for everyone as no one design fits the majority. we had some requirements and #1 on the list was nothing over 32' on the bumper. i had a 35' in the past and that was horrible to tow in the wind and 95% of the time the wind is blowing as i usually cross three state lines to either sand dunes i visit. nothing on the market under 32' even that has a true 14' of cargo and 4k lbs plus ccc. my sand rail is 13'2" oal , 80" track width front, 92" track width rear. 1960 lbs wet. i wanted 14' of cargo length as wide as possible. informed the salesmen it would be impossible to back it in so min 20% tw preferred. they can only do what they can do as they order there frames from lippert as most do. as they are custom units i had to ask i opted for 16" black steel rims with salun 235-85x16 G range ( 14 ply) tires. they installed an H frame with two tire winches bolted to it for the spare tire carrier. its under the frame up against the back door. there is room to move it close to the nose. which i will do as it's tongue lite with my 2k lb sand rail pulled in. i added a 46lb v shaped steel tool box to the nose with my 120 lbs of tools. i have not weighed the wheels but aprrx 200lbs in tires, steel framed carrier and tire winches. that has to go upfront as well. we were so tongue lite for our maiden voyage that the sway ( in a dead side wind) moved my f350 drw diesel side to side. i stopped, moved the two spares to the bed of my truck and my 120lbs of tools up against the bed on the floor. took 85% of that sway out immediately. empty it tows exceptionally well. my aftermarket hitch is rated for 2200 lbs tw so the additional weight it not/will not be an issue. 30' oal with 26' floor 12'6" tall to ac (personaly verified) 7200 lbs/1200 tw side patio with railings true 8' tall 3k lbs rated ramp door 1000 lumen lights on all 4 sides reversible sofa couch bed on hapijac bed lift ( a must have for us) ceiling mount tv that directly faces the couch 12v dometic fridge - we personally will never go back to lp after having this convection microwave oven 2 burner flush mount lp cook top turned sideways as we don't use it corian counter tops with under mount sink porcelin toilet 2- 13,500 non ducted attwood air command-amazing how quiet they are! 100 gal fresh 50 gal black/grey his/her wards 3' flip up corian counter top with no base cabinet for cargo width 12 volt blu ray player i purchased and shipped 3 in one winnegaurd omni 360 plus i sent ( one hole vs 3 in roof) 3 dual channel speaker systems i sent as well solar prep, pre wired to roof and batt with 30 amp controller $179 7k lb axles for 16" wheel and bigger brakes, 6600lb ccc 3500 lb winch mounted in the base under the fridge $550 10 gal electric/lp water heater a number of other options. $26k base price , $44k final price they do offer stick and tin or aluminum and fiber glass or a combo of both. i opted for stick and tin for the batt insulation, with a fiber glass nose. i did so as sound deadening is more important for us. i owned an aluminum walled toyahuler and it had horrible sound deadening. we do not winter camp, the dunes are 24/7 and loud. this is the reason for 2- ac units in a 26' box. the bedroom is 6'4" deep x 8' wide, with its own ac....aka the meat locker res queen mattress as well. def quiet inside so perfect for the two of us. very comfortable inside the toyhauler. i do understand that turning the rear deck into a patio is cheaper/lighter weight then a side patio. we do not like raising and lowering a bed and/or couches to use it. we do use the patio and really enjoy it. we had a rear patio on the last toyhauler and used it on every trip. didn't want any sofa/dinettes on the side walls for full width use. the rev sofa bed on the hapijac is perfect. didn't want any slide outs, yes they do add a lot of room but can become headaches as well. they do offer slide outs as well. the salesman was very helpful and accommodating during the design process. i was and still am impressed we got all this in 26' of floor. that's all i care to say on that subject, thus far. in the pics, the fiberglass skins/doors are not white, they just look diff with the direction of the sun. if anyone else has purchased a dune sport toyhauler or has any comments/experiences..... feel free to voice your opinions. seriously, good and/or bad are welcome.the electrician did an amazing job, cleanest wiring/routing job i have ever seen. the plumber as well from what i can see. i can honestly say that i believe this company has great potential.19KViews0likes50Comments
