Immediate trip home (Salt Lake) from Chicago
Hey all! My son and his dad needed to go to Chicago to say goodbye to someone very close. Well, plans changed and instead of flying, they are now driving. I'm looking for places where they can rest and eat some good things along the way to help strengthen their bond. Any suggestions would be incredibly helpful, thank you!259Views0likes0CommentsSacramento to Redondo Beach, CA?
I'll be taking 99 to the 5 to the 405. What time and day would anyone suggest for this trip? My brother was just down there and said the traffic has gotten horrid! Kinda thinking on leaving Sac on Friday or Saturday at like 10 at night getting me down there in the weekend morning.888Views0likes2CommentsWhere to go for RV fishing trip in AZ or New Mex in November
Got any advice about some good places to fish without a boat in Arizona or New Mexico this month? I'm leaving SoCal this week, heading through Needles, CA, possibly stopping to stay/fish at Park Moabi on the Colorado for a couple days. I have 2 weeks in my fully self-contained RV with a tow car, Starlink internet and waders and a float tube to fish from if needed. I originally was leaving in late Sept and was going to fish the streams/rivers I read about in Louis L'Amour books. But now it's colder so I'm thinking to stay in AZ/NM. Thanks for any suggestions!2.2KViews0likes12CommentsUtah's Big Five & Off-roading - Vehicles other than a Jeep?
An interesting facet of the "Big Five" is the option for off-roading. My trusty guidebook points out a few of the park roads such as Burr Trail Road in Capital Reef and Shafer Trail Road in Canyonlands. It does refer to these roads as requiring a "high clearance 4WD" vehicle and uses a Jeep looking vehicle as an icon. We travel towing our short wheelbase Ford Expedition (4x4, with Hi/Lo on the t-case, skid plates). For anyone who has traveled these park roads/trails, are they passable in something other than a true Jeep, such as our toad? Ground clearance is comparable between the two vehicles, believe or not, but the big difference is in approach and departure angles, a Jeep clearly being superior. Are there a lot of obstacles which need to be driven over? Thanks!Solved2.2KViews0likes6CommentsLA Transit Alternatives
Daughter headed south on I 5 with 34' 5er horse trailer and horse to Temecula. This may be late afternoon on Sunday 10/29. I've recommended 5, 210, 15. What about 210, 57, 71, 91,15? I also recommended 5, 46, 99, 58, 395, 15, 215 which avoids part of LA and only 25 miles longer. Also Temecula vs Grapevine but no 5er weight etc concerns. My preference. If she heads back early AM on a weekday then what route? Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.1.2KViews0likes6Comments89A Flagstaff to Sedona...
Had a nice ride from our home In Payson up 87 to Lake Mary Road and on into Flagstaff. After lunch at our favorite burger joint we headed down 89A through Oak Creek Canyon and on through Sedona. The length limits have changed quite a bit over the last few years so here is the latest update: Vehicles are now limited to 40' max and yes boys and girls the local LEO's do enforce it. I did however see a triple axle fiver pulled by nice dually {who somehow slipped through} but I assume it is {and should be} a pricey ticket so you takes your chances and might just have to pay some money...:S Traffic was bumper to bumper all the way to and through Sedona but the ride is so spectacular it is hard to care. For the record we were not in our coach but enjoying my new {motorcycle replacement} 87 Vette: Life is good. :B1.6KViews0likes7Comments
