FOUR Campgrounds We Stayed At On The Way Home
Bluewater Lake State Park NM Maryhill State Park WA La Pine State Park OR Death Valley CA All these campgrounds were nice to stay at. I do complain about Maryhill for high price with everything being turned off and closed. Just a single Porta potty outside the main bathroom. With everything being closed, the park really should only be charging half price at most. Enjoy,1.3KViews1like4CommentsVIDEO: Annular Solar Eclipse and Hot Air Balloons 10/14/2023
VIDEO Annular Solar Eclipse VIDEO Annular Solar Eclipse and Hot Air Balloon Festival October 14th 2023 Albuquerque NM 1200mm IR UV F16 Solar Filter Today's video, represents the whole reason for this current month plus long roadtrip. Traffic was horrible the morning of the Annular Solar Eclipse. It seemed everyone in Albuquerque wanted to wake up early and go to this event. Fortunately, we got lucky through persistence and local knowledge and got parked within 100 feet of the event entrance. We finally got setup in the field, only missing a few minutes of the even. While the eclipse was interesting to observe, I think I prefer Full Eclipses and the darkness they bring. Enjoy the eclipse video, I had to individually edit, reposition to center, resize, and restore color to the Sun after filtering 200 images. Hello all. I am picking up a new to me 2019 NL 10-2 LE dry bath tomorrow. I have a 2018 Ram 3500 DRW. I’m wondering if I will need a support platform to elevate the camper with this setup. In my 2020 f350 with high bed rails I needed a 2x4 support platform. Just checking before I drive a few hours and am caught with my pants down. Thanks all!475Views0likes1CommentPetrified National Forest Park and Newspaper Petroglyph
Petrified National Forest Park and Newspaper Petroglyph Petrified National Forest Park We started at the visitors center, got some suggestions information, then started our drive through the park. the North section of the park featured Vista views and a cantina visitor center. The park south of the freeway is where the petroglyphs and petrified wood are found. To do this park right, you need to dedicate a full day to walk about each station and view the feature. A very good park, well worth the effort to go there.363Views0likes0CommentsLance Factory Tour
Toured the Lance factory last week. Was lots of fun! Also interesting to see how they apply new technology to design and construction. In our opinion, Lance makes good products. Our Lance truck camper is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year and still going strong! Hope to see some of you at the 2024 Truck Camper Adventure Quartzsite Rally in February :)628Views0likes2CommentsAcoma Pueblo Sky City Walk Through Only Photos Allowed
Acoma Pueblo Sky City Acoma Pueblo Sky City We took a tour of the oldest continuously Lived In City in North America. Photography permit included with tour ticket. No video allowed. This is a must see tour for people interested in Native American History. The tour covers about 3/4 mile on foot at a slow easy pace and takes a little over an hour. The San Esteban Del Rey Mission Cathedral, built over 11 years from 1629 to 1640 under the whip and brutality of Spanish Conquistadors, is the highlight of the tour. Pictures from the 1930's show the Cathedral to be in poor, unkempt condition at that time, and competent restoration has revitalized the structure and surrounding Sky City. I hope you enjoy the video. Only still photography is allowed, no video, hence the slide show.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsBed Mat Base
I want to start off first by thanking FORD for making their bed sides/rails higher than most, certainly higher than my pervious RAM, necessitating me raising the camper in the bed of the truck. I did search and read PAGES of info on different methods…I think I have settled on the plywood, high compression foam, bed mat solution. My question or observation is, using the above method, I didn’t see a recommendation that a sheet of plywood be first put on the truck bed floor as it is not completely flat, before putting the foam board down. So plywood/foam board/plywood/bed mat…..a foam board sandwich screwed together, that seems more logical then letting the bottom of the foam board get destroyed on the unevenness of the truck bed. Or is making a 2x4 frame with the foam in the middle with the bed mat on top the better way to go? What do you think?1.4KViews0likes8CommentsOrdering a Chev 3500 (Oct 2023)
I've been bouncing around ideas for truck campers for a few years and finally decided on one. (Thanks to many on rv.net for the education.) As you all know it's not a great time to buy anything, especially a truck but after waiting for 3 years I decided to order one despite the vast unknowns. I've called and visited a few dealerships and finally yesterday I spoke w a salesman that was direct and forthright about the new order so they'll get my business should Chev ever decide to build it. No jive, no bs, just take the order and they'll do their best. It's the first place that made any effort at all and the first that doesn't require a deposit until they actually have a confirmed allotment. Maybe it'll be ready by next fall!2.9KViews0likes20Comments
