What is Az state route 95 like from Quartzsite to I 40 above Lake Havasu City? Eventually, we're going to Las Vegas. Or would it be easier crossing into California and pick up US95 north to Vegas?I think I'd rather spend more time (and gas money) in Arizona than California. Except that DW wants to drop by Quartzsite, I'd just take US93 out of Phoenix and head straight to Vegas.I'll be pulling a 24' TT with an F150 4x4 Scab.

Both roads are about the same, the biggest difference is a lot more towns on the Arizona side than the California side and thus it will take you longer on the Arizona side.

as stated, AZ side is more scenic, but slower going due to traffic, and going up to Bullhead City is even more congested, but interesting to go through Laughlin. There's a pretty nice campground on the AZ side, just past the bridge.Or you can park free in a parking lot directly across from the Riverside Casino and there's a little shuttle boat that runs constantly all day and most the night.

Thanks for the headsup on "The Grand Gathering" event. We may try to work out schedule around that. We're planning on stopping at Vicksburg, MS, Shreveport, LA, San Antonio & Fredricksburg, TX, Carlsbad Cavern, NM, and Tombstone & Tucson, before getting to Quartzsite.

So depending on 1) how soon I can get my Federal taxes done, and 2) weather here in Virginia and points. we may be able to make it.

I would recommend AZ95 to I-40 to Kingman and US93 to Vegas. That way you skip driving through all the little towns north of I-40 and stay out of CA. US93 from Kingman to Vegas is a great road and very scenic once you enter Lake Mead NRA, but it does have a few hills in that area. I go that way 5-6 times a year and I have been all the different ways.

Make sure you get gas in AZ. Bullhead city AZ you can find it for 3.30 at sam's club,Laughlin NV 3.89 and Needles CA for 4.69.

BUT there is a really bad grade you have to climb as you leave Bullhead City going to Searchlight. Better to cross over to California 95 on I40. You will be in Cal for less than an hour and the climb is nearly nothing.

If you happen to be in Quartzsite next March 6th-9th, some of the RV parks are giving discounts for new "The Grand Gathering" event. The Quartzsite Improvement Assoc. is working on the largest gathering of Grandparents & Great Grands. It should be a fun week with lots of activities.

And Hwy. 95 between Quartzsite and Lake Havasu is a much more scenic route than the CA side.

We're not going now. Quartzsite is one point in a long coast to coast adventure DW & I plan on taking after retirement (August 31) and after college football season this fall.

So, we would be in Quartzsite in early March of 2014.

We were just on AZ 95 in that neck of the woods about 6 weeks ago. It's very doable in an RV. Hope you're not planning to spending time a Quartzsite right now...a little hot! Also, seeing it now won't make a big impression. You have to come back mid-January and spend a little time with thousands of others out there!! Have a great trip.

We took CA side to Needles then across bridge and up to Bullhead, stayed in Laughlin, then on Nevada side north to Vegas. They have done some work on the Ca side so the road is pretty good. Not sure you will miss much going up CA side except traffic in small towns.
