I've read different opinions about going to Four Corners. We're going to be heading to Monument Valley from Santa Fe this Spring and I'm thinking about whether to make it an in-route stop. Just wondering what those of you who have been there think? Thanks in advance.

In spite of it being privately owned and hence an admission fee is charged, it's worth it to stop. Years back we stopped, but were late and they had closed the gate. We instead had a tailgate picnic there, took some pics, and left.

Last time we were there it was a cyclone fenced in spot in the middle of nowhere. Other than the marker showing the spot, for photos. It has nothing to offer. I think I heard that the Navajos are charging admission now but I don't know if that's true. If you have kids it maybe worth your time. On a scale of 10 I'd give it a 3 at best. Something like the giant ball of string roadside attraction.

Regardless we're planning on stopping there in mid April ourselves...

Not much to do there. When we lived in Colorado we like visiting Mesa Verde, so we went down to 4 corners a couple of times.To burst your bubble, the private marking is not really 4 corners. It is somewhere else. I guess the surveys in the 1800's were not as accurate as today.Ken

We enjoyed it. Everyone is right, there's a small fee to get in and there's not a whole lot in the surrounding area.I wouldn't make a trip just to see it, but I would deviate from a route to go.It's unique- where else can you be in 4 states at once? (Ignoring the fact that the marker may be slightly off position, the idea is there.)We went and will likely stop again if we pass near by.

We stopped there a few years ago in mid spring. It must have been off season because most of the little "shops" were closed. There was no food being sold.

We've visited 4 Corners a few times, usually in conjunction with Mesa Verde, when the kids were little. All part of the grand adventure of life! :)

We've also stood in the Northern and Southern hemispheres in Ecuador on one fun adventure as well. While also interesting, it wasn't quite as "interesting" as my shellback initiation back in the day on the Nimitz, when we crossed the equator somewhere off the west coast of Africa, while transitioning "without delay" from the Med to the I/O (one could argue that slowing down for a day for shellback initiation was a delay, but traditions are strong in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club).
