Glad you clarified that! When I read the original statement re: paranoia, my first thought was "ummm, no. It's certain U.S. types that are paranoid, period."

Crossing one way or the other its always good to be forthright( honest, straightforward, direct, open, sincere and honest). We all know guns are a concern, as well as criminal records, without full pardons or release of past criminal charges your not going to get through. So, educate yourself, boarding crossing regulations/agreements are available at both Government websites. I think checking Gov., websites would give one the correct info rather then relying on forum anecdotes.

a while ago a fellow tried to cross into Canada, he had prohibited (Canadian gun laws) magazines but said he did not have the firearms to go with them. When questioned, the fellow said he left his rifles with his Dad who was to ship them to AK, to which was his final destination. The CBSA contacted his father and to their amazement, the father did not have the firearms nor did he know anything about shipping said firearms. They searched his vehicle and found the firearms belonging to prohibited magazines and more... he was denied entry.

On edit! I reopened this thread but if the discussion goes anywhere off the regulations about crossing into Canada with ammunition, the thread will be re-closed.

If the state firearms license info is shared with a federal agency, then that information is available to the border people. I truly have no idea what the % of people that cross into Canada that have a firearms license in the US, but I am supposing that the numbers are fairly high. Obviously not very many get more than a cursory ask, and the agent, trained as they are, moves on to the next and or last inquiry and that's that. Some people do get invited over into secondary and, surprisingly enough, some are just outright stupid enough to have been trying to smuggle in a weapon.

The same level of protection and security is experienced when crossing into the US.

Well, I've pretty much decided to leave my revolver behind instead of having it shipped. It's expensive enough for shipping and storage without having to buy ammo in AK and then leaving it behind. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it.

Your CCP is in the Federal NCIC Register even though it is state specific. The Feds and the Canadians share all such info.

They didn't mention or bother me with my CCP. I didn't take any guns into Canada when I went through.

Aren't CCPs a state specific thing (not talking about reciprocity)? So therefore each state may not choose not to share the info with Canada?
