- nbkingExplorerI used it in NB without a problem.
- Harvey51ExplorerOHIP worked well for FIL a few years ago in Alberta - no charge for local ambulance, emergency surgery on two occasions. When MIL moved here we applied for AHC for her and there was a one or two month wait for that. She had a heart attack in that time, took a long ambulance ride to an airport (the free STARS ambulance plane couldn't land on our town airstrip due to bad weather), then an hour flight to the provincial heart center in Edmonton. There was a bill off $6000 for the air ambulance, not covered by OHIP. But Alberta Health Care Insurance eventually took care of it.
- Little_KopitExplorerIn most provinces your card is accepted and the province where you made claim gets the $ back from your home province.
If you were to move that would apply to all medical treatment that you received in your 1st 3 months, then your new health card for your new province of residence would cover you.
I've read many a time that there is an almost, but not quite 6 months option on health coverage if you go out of Canada.
:C - portlizExplorerThanks. Good to know.
- almccExplorerWe've used our OHIP card in Goose Bay Labrador, Quebec, Erickson Manitoba and Whistler BC over the years, both at doctor's offices and hospitals.
The card was accepted (no extra funds needed) everywhere but Quebec where we paid and were reimbursed 100% by OHIP
