It may be be Chula Visa to you Canada types, but we call it Chula Vista :).
Seriously, it's probably as good a choice as the other 2 ways my iPad shows, which are all likely to be pretty congested on a Sunday. Timing in So Cal is the key. Get out as early as you can. We're currently in a great park in IB. Took a day trip up to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa to hear one of my favorite authors, Joel C. Rosenberg, Wednesday. Left the CV area using 5 around 11am with minimal traffic. Avoided real freeway congestion between Newport & Costa Mesa around 5pm by taking surface streets. Even the drive back to IB between 9-10:30pm was surprisingly heavy. It's all about timing. If you're staying at Chula Vista RV be sure to check out the nearby restaurant, The Galley, overlooking the marina. And check out Bernardo Shores RV park between IB & Coronado. We consider it one of the best in the state.
