Bay of Fundy RV Site?

We will be visiting the Maritime Provinces in August and September. Where is a good spot to spend a few days and watch the Bay of Fundy tides?

  • There is a nice campground in St Martins NB, right on the water and close to a not miss drive, the 10 mile long Fundy Trail.
Its called Century farm Family Campground.

  • Have a look at Fundy National park. Here a link to my video of one of my favourite sites. Chignecto North Campsite. HQ Campsite is nice and has more pull through sites and 3 way sites.

  • We were at the Ponderosa Pines Campground (the commercial campground next to Hopewell Rocks) for a couple of days to see the rocks last week. Other than the smallest toilet stalls I've ever seen, the park is OK, and the rocks are great: Our day at Hopewell Rocks. We saw a Peregrine falcon & chick nesting at Big Cove (one of the overlooks at Hopewell Rocks) the day before the one I linked to. You need a long lens or good binoculars to see it, but worth looking. Some photos at 2013 Trip, Day 10.
  • Another vote for Cape Enrage Lighthouse and Hopewell Rocks. There is a commercial RV park right next to Hopewell Rocks and admission to Hopewell Rocks is good for 24 hrs, so you can easily visit at both low and high tide.

Blomidon PP in NS is another great spot. The campsites are about 600 ft above the Minas Basin and there is a picnic area at the park entrance so you can see tidal changes up close and over a large area of the Bay of Fundy.
  • If you want the ocean and tides about 40 feet from your front window then try Kawanis Oceanside Campground in St. Andrews NB. Sitting at your campfire at night all you hear is waves and the sounds of the bells on the bouys in the harbour.

It is within walking distance of the quaint downtown area in St. Andrews. Lots of really good sea food restaurants you can walk to as well.

There is a well organized tourist industry in St. Andrews so lots to do such as whale watching, golf etc.

Book in advance if you want a front row site:

  • Big X2 on don't miss Hopewell Rocks. My post from a couple of months back with pictures at Hopewell Rocks and several other locations in the Maritime Provinces.

Just to add to possible destinations along the Bay of Fundy, we stayed a couple of nights at Century Farm Campground in St. Martin, NB. Located right on the Bay. We drove the Fundy Trail Parkway from there and visited the nearby sea caves.
  • We have stayed at New River Beach Provincial Park in New Brunswick. It is right off Rt.1 between St. George and Saint John.

We have also stayed at Fundy National Park. If you decide to stay st Fundy NP, make sure you go to Hopewell Rocks. Amazing!!!

There is also a really neat lighthouse at Cape Enrage. It is just above Fundy NP.

Enjoy the area--it is beautiful. We have relatives in PEI so we make the trek from FL to PEI quite often and always stop at New River Beach PP for an overnight on the way.

  • We were in NB about four years ago. We stayed at the Fundy National Park campground just outside Alma, New Brunswick.
It was very nice and close to the bay. I'm sure there are other great places, this is the only one we've used. I would stay there again.
