- TequilaExplorerA bit odd, they mentioned a toll booth and then say the highway to Navalota which is not toll. We already know they were traveling after dark, maybe they went off looking for a place to crash. If so the obvious place would have been next to a toll booth. On the other hand if they were pulled over on a toll highway that is scarier. I have never driven them at night so I dont know how much traffic is on them.

The Missing Link
Like I wrote, it doesn't fit. Traveling in one of the most dangerous areas in Mexico. Way the hell and gone remote from Mex 15-D
SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT
Resisting the robbery. Multiple armed scumbags
Anyone for jogging buck naked in Central Park with a fat Bank deposits bag hung around the neck?
Yeah I feel crummy about the murders. Fifteen minutes of online research, believing and abiding by common sense would have prevented these senseless murders. Australia has internet connections - they spoke English.
God what a screwup situation. - TequilaExplorerLooks like their big mistake was in resisting. When armed men try to rob you,let them take it, it's only stuff. In my case my truck will ony run for 3 minutes before it dies & cannot be restarted. That gives me 6 minutes to disappear plus the time they spend scratching their heads, if they have another vehicle.
Also these guys broke one of the cardinal rules of driving in Mexico, do not travel at night. - briansueExplorerhttp://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/dec/04/three-arrested-mexico-suspected-killing-australian-tourists
“This is just a gang of five people who committed highway robberies. They don’t have links to drug cartels,” - clarlkExplorerfolks this is why you should not drive at night...

- navegatorExplorerA gang of highway robbers shot the Australians and doused the van with gasoline and set it on fire, 3 of the gang members have been arrested, they have no connection to narcos simple theft, it is truly a tragedy let us say a prayer for the Down Under kids.
