Border Agents rude and difficult at Nogales

I have to say - there are places in baja and mainland Mexico that are worth the rudenest to get there. Also beauty in Canada & the Yukon, on the way to Alaska are also worth the rudenest you may encounter.
Just smile, suck it up, tell the truth, and go enjoy.

makes sense, the one you didn't open sort of waves a red flag. sort of like when the inspector made the final inspection on my garage. I had fishing rod racks on the wall and one of the rods perfectly blocked the center of a duplex receptacle. that one was selected to test. made sense to me.

I have to agree with the US customs agents being rude and brash. While traveling in Mexico this past winter we were stopped several times in Mexico by the federal police. We had language barriers and the motor home searched several times. Each time we were treated professionally and never felt intimidated. When we came back into the US we were intimidated by the US agent. It didn't start right with their first question "Why are you here?". It went down hill from there. We were escorted out of the motor home and told to stand in one place for 30 minutes while they searched every compartment, the dingy and inside. While this was going on, a agent had our passports and instead of confirming we were, he talked to another agent about a personal experience for the previous day. It ended with the passports being returned and told to go. Nothing confiscated or questioned. I know they have a tough job to do but a little attitude adjustment would go a long way.

Are you speaking of us agents when your coming north, are mexican agents heading south? In all my crossings at the us / mexico, border
and there have been many, baja and mainland . never have I felt picked on! I simply:) tell them the truth when they ask. One trip a few years ago, crossing into Canada heading to Alaska, I was not treated rude, but had the most thuro rig check, I have had at any border crossing, just keep your cool, relax, and be truthful.

A jerk is a jerk. People craving abuse of authority will seek positions to exercise their craving. Sort of skews the idea of "averaging" the possibility of encountering a mental games player.

Again, I think they are looking in the wrong place. I think Buddha said, "look within".

Travelling to Victoria or to Vancouver, BC used to be an enjoyable day trip for us. Not since 9/11. I have found Canadian border agents to be agreeable. Not so U.S. agents when returning home...brash and arrogant for the most part. We rarely go to B.C. anymore because we do not want to endure the almost inevitable negative experience of crossing our border coming back home...puts a sour taste at the end of a nice day.

They'll gladly tell you how to vote, what wrong with what everyone else does or doesn't do, and all that's right with what they do. Not long ago I had an English speaking extraneous woman interrupt a private conversation I was having with an individual and indignantly quip...

Yeah, it got to me...My answer...

"You wouldn't know a starter motor if it ran up behind you and bit you on the ---"

I keep a mental note of individuals who offer inappropriate advice and should they later say "The Sky Is Blue" or "The Grass is Green", I wonder what their motive is.

I read this forum every once in a while because some day I would like to RV in Mexico. I have friends in El Gulfo and would like to take my RV down there. I can never figure out why people come into this forum and then proceed to tell us that they would never to go Mexico! What are they doing in this forum?
