Have only had similar situation twice. Once because entering Canada with an NRA sticker and Military post stickers.
In 05 or 06 Had one jerk, entering back from Canad browbeat my wife who was driving. I started to get out of the truck. My responsibility includes defending my wife and family from whatever hostility. She manged to stop me.
She refused to go back to Canad for fishing or anything else until two years ago it so upset her.
There are instructions to get people off balance and get them to show their hands.
This guy was not suited for the job. There are probably one or two more.
Most are courteous and friendly when they can be. The good ones don't try to be jerks and can spot problems easier.
