Bryce Canyon over to I-5 North

If you want interstates, from Bryce take 89 N from Panguitch to Hwy 20 west to I-15. Take I-15 north to I-84 into Idaho and pick up I-82 to I-90 to I-5 in Washington. No biggies on this route. Not much traffic other than Salt Lake City, Utah and Boise, Idaho and then around Seattle area. Have a good trip!

If it were me, I would take US 395 north from Reno and skip Redding. You can head over to I5 at Lakeview, Or. or just continue north to the Columbia River to cut over. I would look to avoid both Portland and Seattle and just stay on 395.

I would not go over to I-5 unless there is a good reason until way north. I would go north on US-93 to Twin Falls. Take I-84 into Portland or take I-82 to I-90.
Yes, there is some hills through OR in the Blue Mountains.
US 50 across NV has several climbs all the aceross.
I would avoid US-395 north of John Day,OR.

If your BC goal is Summerland on 97, why go all the way west to I5? I84 to N Oregon, and then WA17 to US97 is most direct.

But back to I5:

Reno US395 to Susanville, CA44, CA89 to Mt Shasta does not have mountain passes. I5 on the CA/OR border the one well defined pass on this route.

But if you are comfortable taking BC5 and 97C from Vancouver to Summerland I don't think any of the US stuff would bother you.

Thanks for all your comments/suggestions.We were wanting to end up on the southern Oregon coast via Canyonville,after leaving Bryce Canyon,so that is the reason of wanting to get over to I-5 and the only way I see to do that is thru Ely, on the Reno and then up to Redding?But I see alot of mountain passes on that route?

If you had mentioned the south Oregon coast (or Calif Redwoods) first, you would have gotten different answers.

The two most recommended routes to that part of the coast are CA20, and US199. CA299 from Redding has been discussed recently, the main opinion being that it is long with lots of curves and ups/downs, though not difficult.

For CA20, take I80 west of Reno. 20 past Clear Lake is the easiest way to US101.

For US199, take the Reno, Susanville, Mt Shasta route, and I5 to Grants Pass. US199 has some curves along the river on the California side, but nothing difficult. An alternative in Oregon is to continue north of Roseburg, and take OR42 to the coast.

I see there are lots of routing options after reaching Reno,but I am most concerned about the drive between Bryce Canyon,Ely and then on to Reno,looks like alot of mountain passes?

I haven't driven it, but many people are happy with US50 across Nevada. Mountains in Nevada trend NS, but the crossings tend to be short and simple.

US89 north to I70 is the simplest way to I15. I seen mixed opinions about UT20 from US89 to I15.

I think you are referring to US50 from Ely to Reno (area). If so, no worries. The passes along the way are no big deal for your equipment.
