CA hwy 41 from Paso Robles to Morro Bay

It looks pretty good on Google maps but I have been fooled before.

I'll be driving a Class A with a toad. Hills don't bother me but sheer drop offs sure cause my ears to become very sore...if you get my drift.
  • Easy drive. It's a well maintained undivided roadway that will not present a problem. Just don't head North on 101 from Morro Bay through Big Sur with the rig, that is the hair-raising shear dropoff road you have heard about. A nice day drive in a car.
    Happy Trails
  • Are you sayin' that your co-pilot doesn't like the drops?
  • Easy drive a few curves but not to bad 46 a little north is less curvey but 41 will be fine. I live in Atascadero and have driven bough hundred's of times.
  • Korbe, she doesn't like the drops and I don't like having to deal with her for the rest of the trip.

Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

We live in Morro Bay and pull our 38' 5er over that section of 41 nearly every trip. And the above admonishment is for HWY 1. Hwy 1 is actually a very good road north of the 1/41 intersection in Morro Bay to the intersection of Hwy 46, where if you want to go north on 101 you can take that over to Paso Robles. There is a large pullout near the top that if the fog isn't in you have a great view. No dropoffs like on 1 north of Cambria.

I too have a co-pilot who does not like dropoffs and she's fine on 41. Also, if you are coming in from the east on 46 and using a GPS. DO NOT make the left off of 46 onto 41 a couple miles west of the rest stop on 46 that many GPS's suggest. Neither of you will be happy on that section of 41. Stay on 46 to Paso and take 101 south to the 41 exit.

I think you are thinking of State Hwy 1, not Hwy 101 which goes thru Paso Robles and is a multi-lane freeway.
