California Hwy near San Simeon

We are looking for a reasonably priced RV park in this area that will fit our 40' MH pulling a pickup. Any suggestions? We know that Hwy 1 north of there isn't very good for a 40 footer, but thought we might stay in this area and ride our motorcycle farther north.
  • We really enjoy staying at San Simeon State Park. No hookups. We prefer the upper loop. A rig your size might only fit up there. There are no full hookup rv parks in the immediate vicinity of San Simeon or Cambria. I think you would have to go back to Morro Bay for those.
  • I will second San Simeon State Park. I have stayed there a couple of times. If it is open, I prefer the upper section on the left as you drive into the park before you head down the hill. I have stayed here a few times over the last few years.

Please make time to go to Hearst Castle just up the road. They have plenty of parking for any size vehicle at the castle. It is a must see and only a mile up the road from San Simeon State Park.

There is a great seal watching area just north of the castle as well. Large dirt parking lot for any size RV and free.
  • Couple of spendy parks in Paso Robles. Hwy. 46 from Paso to Cambria/San Simeon is an easy ride on a MC. View from the top is breathtaking. Morro Bay has several private parks and the two State Park Campgrounds that can accommodate your rig. One mobile home park in Cayucos that sometimes has an RV site open. The Morro Strand State Park may be able to take your RV and has just completed installing full hookups at 30 sites on the east side of the park. The Morro Bay State Park in the south I believe will be too tight for a 40' Class A.
  • Full hook-ups at both Morro Strand State Park & Morro Strand RV, a private park. The private facility offers more of a wind break, but the SP offers back in sites that afford a great view from the front window of your motorhome. About 6 weeks ago, we had our 37' Class A at both for a week at each. Great facilities. While in the area, I strongly encourage you of take the lighthouse tours at Avila Beach & Piedras Blancas. (Might be spelled wrong.). Both were very different from each other. Both were outstanding.
