We have stayed at Trailer Park Las Americas in Puebla and its website indicates that it is still open.Have stayed at the Recreativo El Gordo y San Pancho on the north side of Villahermosa. The RV site was rather run down when we were there in 2013 but it is a good spot to spend the night. Does anyone know if this is still open for RVs.Really regret that Rancho Hermanos Graham seems to be closed. We always enjoyed hearing the Oropendelas calling in the morning.Reed and Elaine Cundiff

We were in Puebla one week ago. US and one other for one night. Pretty slow. Three stored rigs. Still low-amp electric. 230 pesos? Not much improvement although lots of guys painting and clearing brush.

Reed, That Balneario in Villahermosa is still open.e there in March. May be hard to get to when you are west bound if there is still construction making a retorno nearly impossible.

coloradotallman - thanks for information. We are pretty well solar autonomous and do not hook up if possible. If we do, we just charge the battery bank with a 15 amp cord.Tossed the 50 amp cord two years ago. Battery bank then runs everything through inverter/conveter. We have friends in Puebla.John - thanks for information. We get into Villahemosa on a weekend and the retorno may be/may not be possible. We will spend the previous night in Orizaba. If not, we shall continue on to your normal spot a hundred or so km down the road. Sorry we shall not see you and Peg again this year. ReedIf you are not past it yet, there are sections of the road south of Torreon toward Zacatecas that are horrible and could easily break a spring or spring shackle. I'd recommend finding an alternate routeMike J from Salida

Mike we are going to the east coast. 57D has been excellent through Matehual. Spent the night at Palmas Motel where we have stayed every time before going down and returning. Will be in San Miguel for two days. Should be camped at usual spot in a week.Are you and Pat going to Mexico this year?Reed and Elaine

Made it to beach. Got a nice spot for next six weeks or so. Am convinced that the most essential items for traveling in Mexico are:

Gorilla or duct tape
Bungy Cords
Tie-down straps

Window attachments break, cords get loose etc.

Spent night of 15 December at Pemex in Orizaba. A lot of construction on Cuota in town so we left the next morning at 6:30 am. Planned to stop in Hermosilla but got there at noon or so and just went on through. Spent night 16 at a Pemex about 50 km west of Escárcega. They asked for 50 pesos and had us set up so that we were in full light and view of the all night crew. Both Bar Familiar and the other restaurant on 186 on road across Yucatan seemed to be open. 186 across Yucatan is excellent once you get 2 km out of Escárcega. That first 2 km is really bad. The usual plethora of topes in Bacalar and tank traps in Tulum.
Supposed to rain for next 5 or 6 days on Playa de Maya.

Got to meet Brian and Sue for first time as well as Ruth and Rick from Maine. We are at the RV Park in Puebla and there are perhaps 8 RVs of different size. The owner gave us a ride to downtown Cholula to meet friends.

We just backed our 40 footer into space 2 at San Ramon - done it many times - never tried up above - on concrete here - rain could cause mud up above

Hi Mike. We also did that route about 4 or 5 years ago and we had a similar experience. Topes galore. The string kids were stressful. In all of our Mexican travels it was the only stretch we would have called trying. We wouldn't do that route again. Beautiful area though and home to our favourite Mexican city, St Cristobal de las casas.

Received your blog. We should be usual place in Yucatan by this time next week. Plan 6 weeks in Yucatan and then across to San Cristobal de las Casas and then up the west coast which we have never done. Will need to get information on San Cristobl and the coast. Hope paths cross.

Temperatures are in the low to mid-70s during the day and around 50 at night.

We are at Boca Beach on the west coast for a few of days as the Tracker has a brake problem that needs fixing. It is quite hot here,one old timer at Melaque free beach said hottest in 15 years, up to about 31-32(C) every day. Head back to cooler Guadalajara when repaired.

I think everyone misses that in town CG, which still has not been developed. I think a 38' motorhome will make the upper CG but a 38' 5th wheel would be really tight around a couple of trees. Just googled your rig and found out it is a motorhome. I will ask if such a rig can make it to upper CG. As noted in earlier post, friends got a 40' or 44' Newmar into lower CG. We should be here for three full days before we move on.
