CG for kayak access to Lake Marion / Moultrie SC

Wondering if someone can recommend a CG with good access for kayak fishing in these lakes. We stayed at Santee SP last year a couple of nights, and it was ok, but we did not have a kayak with us. It did not appear to very accessible for kayaks except from the boat ramp. Just wondering if there is a sweet spot to camp, easily launch a kayak, and do some fishing without paddling 2 miles. :)

Also, anyone know the best time of the year to fish the lakes?
