What about I86 thru southern NY. Very pretty drive. An don't forget to stop at the famous Rosko Diner. (great pies)
There are a couple of COE's just south of Corning in PA, and 65,000 acres in Allegany SP
Tha last time I was on I-86 with a TT it was a washboard. Is it still like that?
It has been very largely repaired for a few years now and is much improved. There indeed used to be sections, particularly west of Corning, that were very rough.
If it were me, I would perhaps stop at Watkins Glen state park in New York (well worth an extra day's stay to walk through the Glen) and maybe Emerald Lake state park in Dorset, VT. The last day with that itinerary would be a tad on the long side.
