Colorado Springs to Santa Fe

We would like to travel From Colorado Springs to Santa Fe, we prefer to take a more Scenic route. Is Hwy 50 to 285 difficult or should we take 160? We find I25 boring. We are pulling a 36ft Fifthwheel with F250. Any suggestions welcomed.

We traveled from Santa Fe to Denver area on 285 last fall and enjoyed the trip. The only hangup was thru Taos due to traffic and stop lights.

115 to 50 to 285 is a wonderful drive. I 25 is not necessary. It is very curvy through the canyon between Canon City and Salida. You have to drive slow and it is spectacular with many turn outs available along the Arkansas River. Poncha pass down to the sand dunes. You will not be disappointed.

X2. And south of Poncha Pass, you can pick up CO 17 and go directly to the Great Sand Dunes National Park as a diversion.
