- moishehExplorerMex: I remember when the first 15 year permits began. The mgr. of the CG bought the book that explains the law. It had one section that stated parts for a boat or RV with that TIP could bring in parts with no duty or IVA. But it never explained how to do this. I often bring in parts for our Bluebird. Usually I go in the nothing to declare. If inspected I give an explanation and I get a free pass. But only because the aduanero would not know how to process the transaction. If you need a broker it is not worth the PIA. If I had a copy of the regulation that would help.

2XL clothing and a shoe size 13
Spend 300 dollars drive to Morelia or Acapulco. 2XL costs three times as much as L, and the selection would be adequate for a payoso or undertaker.
"Why do you have eight pants, twelve shirts, twenty socks, and four pairs of new shoes?" asks the aduanro
Sometimes I am tempted to reply "Because your nose is even with my belly button". But I stay polite and show them the tags have been removed.
Try finding WIRE NUTS sometime. especially the blue and gray ones. Or excellent quality make-up plugs, or spec grade tomas, receptacles. Excellent quality USB - Micro cords. It's all Chinese garbage. Try finding automotive electrical wire terminals or 4 gauge starter cable. Shoot, find RustOleum red primer, GOOP, decent kitchen matches. A decent can opener. Egg poacher.
As a permanent resident now slowly but surely you will find you grow tired of putting up with 3rd world grade imported stuff. When your USA knives go bad, bed linen gets thread bare and clothes get ragged you won't be bringing fresh loads when "you come down" You'll see. - Talleyho69ModeratorGreat tips.
Better yet, buy your clothes and whatever you can, here!!!!!! - navegatorExplorerSorry we got carried alway, being able to import items wether for our houses or RVs, I gather that many travell to Mexico in B or C and live half in Mexico and the rest in USA or Canada, I have met a few that do that, so importing items can get to be a hassle let alone the mordida, having receipts for items purchased with the intent of importing them helps with the tax, otherwise the aduaneros have a fairly good idea of the actual cost and can charge more, them pocketing the difference or requesting a higher mordida because you do not have a receipt.
Importing new items,
1. Do not open pacage, maintain original seals intact
2. Have the receipt with the item
3. If pacage was ordered and shipped leave shipping manifest on pacage and have the order number given by the seller, order confirmation number and the receiving papers from the transport company, UPS, post office, Amazon.
4. Present pacage and all paperwork to the aduanero.
5. Go and pay the tax at the ventanilla.
6. Keep all paperwork with the instructions if so aplicable once home
Importing used items is a whole other story, it will be up to customs to asses the damage to your pocket book.
One item strictlly forbiden....USED CLOTHING....new cloths only and again leave all labels on and price tags, if possible bring in with the stores hanger, just make sure that the anti theft device is removed at the store otherwise you will be in a heap of trouble.

Going to the recinto de puerto tomorrow and doing an importation of RV parts for quicksilver. The car permit is more than handy when doing this. A five thousand dollar engine replacement can have zero IVA if the importation is done correctly. - Talleyho69ModeratorGentlemen, as much as this discussion is entertaining, what does it have to do with "RVing in Mexico and South America?"
Moderator - navegatorExplorerThe cion part can be replacer with a switch that is push momentary contact only, that is what the coin does anyway, trips a momentary switch, when Canadians use the Canadian money that coinage is a little bigger than the US coin and that tends to bend the switche's contacts and render the machines "non op", switching from 240 Vac to 120 Vac is going to be fun, you might need to replace the motors or rewind, check and see if the machines do not have the 120Vac option built in, ya never know.
navegator - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI guess I had better go back and repair the thirty or forty orifices I have had to drill in the last forty years. Altitude too makes custom burner settings a must.
The appliances I purchased are wired for 240 TWO HUNDRED FORTY VOLT operation, as are most commercial USA appliances. Both the washer and the dryer have coin slot operation using US quarters.
The washer is a WASCOMAT which makes comparison to the "FROM $" appliances in the Mercado Libre Ad similar to comparing a Suburu Outback to an M2 Abrams tank. All 207 pounds of it.
The dryer is an IPSO. It can handle two full Wascomat loads. I is natural gas + 240vac and the orifice must be reduced for use with LPG. Then reconfigured for 127vac. The damned drum drive belt alone cost me sixty dollars.
I warned Brenda that the dryer eats gas like a wolf eats rabbits; but she is adamant about no more musty clothes.
By import law the coin mechanisms could not be allowed into the country. So there are holes where the slots and baskets were. - navegatorExplorerNatural gas fired apliances use a certain size orifice for the gas burners, and propane or butane fired apliances use a diferent size orifice for the burnes, and it all depends on the amount of gas that is needed for the burner, you do not want a veritable flame trower or a litt pilot light, you want to have the correct amount of gas mixing with the air so that the burner is working in the most efficient maner to do the work requiered, electric apliances do not need any change since they are electric heated and not gas heated.
navegator - moishehExplorerThere is no need to change Anything in a USA appliance. We have had washers, dishwashers, fridges and microwaves. Some if this appliances gave up due to the bad water. Our Wells get salty after 2 years. Eats everything including faucets and copper pipes. But none have died due to the 127 to 130 voltage. Our TV has a good surge protector and it fried this year. Was at least 8 years old. This usually occurs after a power outage. When it comes back on the voltage can hit over 400.
