Does Hwy 50 and Hwy 89 Eastbound have any steep section that are a problem when pulling the signature 5W?
Thank you
I've made that trip a lot. Taking 50 east, you will have to climb up to echo summit, then drop down towards the Tahoe airport which you will see as you descend on 50 from echo summit. When you get to Meyers, turn right onto 89 south. There is one pass on that road but nothing to worry about. Once you get to 88, turn left through Hope Valley. As stated above, turn right at Centerville to 395. There is a shortcut before Centerville, but I wouldn't suggest it in your rig. Once on 395, there is another pass before you get to Topaz. Topaz lake has suffered from the drought. I have stayed at the casino rv park, the hotel, and the rv park on the lake just south of the casino. All were good, and the last trip my buddies and I made a killing in the casino. Friday they have a really good spaghetti dinner for next to nothing. Enjoy. - Cabo_PaulExplorerIf you are traveling thru Colorado on Hwy 50 eastbound, there is a steep climb before you get to the Gunnison Lake area. Much to our chagrin we have found that Colorado, unlike California does not necessarily have guard rails along those pass routes.
On that particular stretch I just drove in the fast lane regardless whether we held up the faster traffic. I had no desire to drive in the slow lane + be able to look down several thousand feet ..... With no guard rail. Otherwise gorgeous scenery. Good luck. - danorenExplorer

50 and 89 to 88 are good but take 88 to Centerville Rd and go across to 395 instead of 89 over Monitor.
