Very smart! - Linda_from_CanaExplorerHi Moisheh...long time since we chatted here. Yes keeping a foreign vehicle in Mexico is getting tricky with the new immigration stuff. That's the main reason we took our Canadian car back to Canada, even though we had always planned to nationalize it in Mexico when the time came. We bought a Mexican car, so now we will never have a hassle about it. No doubt there will be future hassles regarding other things...but not the car. One off the list!
We also got international licences when we did the Europe RV trip. They are only good for 1 year (at least ours were), and as stated, are only obtainable if you have a "real" drivers' licence. - robatthelakeExplorerA long time ago the procedure to obtain a Drivers Licence in this Country wasn't much different! Granted there were not as many vehicles on the Roads then, for that matter there were not that many roads to drive on either.
Times have changed eh! - qtla9111Nomad

traffic in DF is not a big deal, if you know where you are going and how to get there. I was in numerous taxis there a month ago, all the drivers complained about the traffic (10am rush hour I guess). I laughed. You ever driven in Chicago rush hour? DF was a cake walk.
Yep, all my coworkers in D.F. rely on GPS to find their way around. They say there are no issues. - tepetapanExplorertraffic in DF is not a big deal, if you know where you are going and how to get there. - navegatorExplorerAn international drivers licvence is in reallity not a licence at all, they are official translations of the basic data of the DL and that is it, if you give that to the Police, they will still ask for the real thing, and you better have the real one on you.
navegator - moishehExplorerNo because they are accepted only in certain cases. You could not use one in the USA if you are Canadian and vice versa. They are not a substitute for a real DL.
Moisheh - BumpyroadExplorerwhen I was doing a lot of overseas travel, I got an international driver's license. any illegality with that?
bumpy - moishehExplorerHi Linda: Not only in all provinces but in many states. Lots of expats in Maz. carry 2 licenses. Keeping a vehicle in Mexico is becoming very difficult due to new regulations.
Moisheh - Linda_from_CanaExplorerJust something to keep in mind for anyone considering getting a licence in Mexico- I know 1st hand that if you have a drivers' licence in Manitoba, it is illegal to hold any other licence. The question is right on the MB licence annual renewal form. If you answer yes or if they should find out, you must forfeit the other licence or lose the MB licence. I assume this is also the case in other provinces???
