If you unhook take exit 11 at Trinidad the East side has a Shell and a large areas to hook back up and the west side has a Wal-Mart.
Raton is an easy pass and great to practice on to get ready for the harder ones.
If you can not handle Raton DO NOT go west of I25
It is not the going up that people get in trouble on it is the going down that gets people in trouble do not hook back up till you are back at the bottom if you unhook.
Going up just gear down to keep your power up without lugging. Going down use your transmission to hold your speed down. If your speed starts getting up stab brake to bring your speed down.
If the sign says 45 believe them.
Down shift if you are having to brake very often. When in doubt of what gear to be in when going down use the lowest gear you used going up.
Do not worry about going to slow up or down get to the right and put your hazards on.
We do not tow but our 27 foot carbureted gasser with only a three speed tranny has made it up and down 11,000 foot passes and dealt with 7% plus grades so you can do it.
