Good route Portland, OR to Phoenix, NOT thru California?

If you have good suggestions for a route from Portland, OR to Phoenix, AZ which does not involve California, I would appreciate your input. Someone told me that there was a new, very nice highway t...

Both 93 and 95, while two-lane, are well-maintained highways. While traffic is light, there is traffic and it's not as though you could be stranded helpless for days at a time. And there is at least spotty cellular coverage on 93 and quite good coverage with Verizon on 95.
