Great RV Park in Tok, AK

If the RV park was on the right hand side of the road, going East to West, then it was probably Tok RV village. We stayed there years ago and it was a nice park. Free car/RV wash and across street was a big service station. Do not remember the brand name.

Wow, we spent over $9.00 on a loaf of bread and a small package of cookies at the Three Bears Supermarket. The prices are extraordinarily high. Not a good place to shop in my opinion.

We still don't know the name of the park but we have discussed them all and have found out how to pronounce Tok. All have pretty good reviews although Three Bears review is a year old.

Interesting, Joe. We liked Tok and enjoyed our brief time there.

Dale, thanks. I will sure take a look at it the next time I am in Tok. Has me wondering, if the different Three Bears businesses, are owned by the same people. Tok is a real nice place, except perhaps in the middle of winter, which is too cold for me anymore. Got me to thinking about what all I don't/didn't know about the town of Tok. After some research, it appears the name may have come from the name of one of the construction camps, during the building of the Alaska Hwy. The camp was called Tokyo Camp (as in "on the road to Tokyo" as the Alaska hwy was built as a military road during WWII) This would explain why it is pronounced the way it is to rhyme with Coke, and not the sound a clock makes after it goes tick. LOL

Joe, the Three Bears park is not new and is across the street from the Tok RV Village park. The RV park is behind the Three Bears Outpost where they sell guns, ammo, hunting and fishing gear, etc. I bet you have seen the outpost, just probably didn't notice the RV park behind it. We asked the guy at the counter why they weren't full and he said they do fill up when the caravans come through. Very friendly people. We knew the first time we stopped that we would be coming through again, so we stayed with them a second time.

Dale, could you tell us a bit more about the Three Bears RV Park. This is a new one to me. Over the years I have purchased lots of groceries at the Three Bears Supermarket in Tok, one of the best store to restock at in the area, IMHO. But I have never heard of them having a campground. Now there is a Golden Bear RV park down on the Tok Cut Off not too far from the Sourdough CG.Thought that I had stayed at every campground in the Tok area but may have missed one. Our current favorite is actually the State Rec one called Eagle Trail, about 12 miles south of Tok, dry camping but in the trees, just real nice and reasonable in price.

My guess is Tundra RV Park. Very state park like.

I'm guessing Three Bears. We stayed their twice last year. FHU, $27. Restrooms were old but clean. Pull thru sites. Lots of sites, few campers. Not sure why so few campers. . . people were very friendly. Not much in amenities, but that's not what we were looking for.

The other parks in the area were nice as well and probably more amenities, but more expensive. This had what we needed and we were happy.
