Help - Clarksboro, NJ to Littleton, Mass?

What is the easiest driving/least stressful route from Clarksboro, NJ to Littleton, Mass?
We plan to cover it in one day and are pulling a 37' 5th wheel. Totally unfamiliar with driving in the northeast! I have read several blogs about avoiding NY but they all seem fairly confusing and I can't find any that are recent. Even AAA is no help - they just want to send us on the most direct route.

    Tappan Zee (I87) over the Hudson then I684 then I84 then I495
    691 east and 91 north will get you around Hartford.

    Avoiding NYC is not confusing. If you want to use AAA, set a stop in Tarrytown NY. Then the route will take you across the Tappan Zee - Well out of the NYC traffic. What you do from there is your choice. There are reasons why I don't go back to megapolis much.
