Hwy 101 & Astoria-Megler Bridge

We are hoping to travel Hwy 101 from Crescent City CA to Astoria OR around March 20th and then through WA to Sequim . Is the Astoria bridge usually passable at this time? Would you continue from Astoria on 101 and travel around the top of Olympic Natl Park, or take the inside loop up from Olympia? Any and all suggestions welcome! New to RV.NET, this is my 2nd post. I've already gotten a wealth of info here.

    The bridge was fine in November. We did this 1000 mile loop casually in 10 days:

    I believe all the bridges here in Oregon are always under some kind of construction year in and year out. I have lived here for 15 years and the North Bend bridge has been being worked on for at least that long. Just figure each time you cross an Oregon bridge there is construction being preformed but relax in knowing it's not going to fall down.:)

    Last Mach the Bridge was still being painted, but did not hold us up for long.
    We enjoy going around the coast. We did run into a freak snowstorm on Anacortes island on our way down to the Oregon coast.

    The last several times we have taken it (last September and October) it was being painted so there were some delays. They may be done now. There is a roundabout on the Astoria side so pay attention to the signs for 101 northbound.

    What you might want to do is take the 5er across the bridge camp at Cape disappointment State Park. Then travel back over the bridge back to Astoria check out the Astoria Column. It is quite a view of the whole area from there. You also might want to check out the wharf there in Astoria. It has some great places to eat. You won't want to take your 5er to the column the parking is not set up for RVs.

    The bridge should be Ok ( as others have said. WE take the "coast" route whenever we go that way. Hoh rain forest is a great visit ( base in Forks) but take the ride west from forks to La Push ( nice RV park there) for some of the BEST ocean watching in WA!
    In Sequim - try to get in the John Wayne marina RV park. One of the nicest in that area.

    101 is a major north south route. if the bridge is closed it is because of a accident or major storm. you will be well aware of a storm of this magnitude before you reach the bridge and very unlikely the time of year you are planning to visit.
    forks is a nice stop to visit the ho rain forest and rialto beach
