  • I will be heading that way at the end of July. One of the route planners I use has me taking I435 to I29.

Is this a good way to go or should I try a different route. This is my first time in the area pulling a trailer so any help would be appreciated.

    Yep, what he said.

  • Good luck. If you are driving through, I'd google map it and drive it on street street view. There are two places where you gotta make a decision quick and the choices are not necessarily clear unless they have changed it since I lived in th area seven years ago. I'd NOT do it during rush hour morning or evening.
  • We traveled I-70 last month around Kansas City, we ended up taking the toll highway and traveled mid day to avoid the rush hour mess. Traffic moved along ok no problems but it seemed to take forever to drive that route???
  • I would take 470 and 435 around KC and then Kansas 10 over to Lawrence and 24 to Topeka and avoid the turnpike.
  • Right now and for the foreseeable future. The most direct route thru is I-70 to I-670 back to I-70. Travel it during non rush hour times.

    Lewis and Clark Viaduct
Westbound I-70 will be closed past Broadway Blvd (in Missouri NW corner of the
downtown loop) to 3rd St in Kansas City, Kansas for bridge replacement. This closure
will be in effect through December 31, 2019.
  • 435 and 470 can be an absolute mess with traffic and all the construction going on around Kansas City. Personally, I’d take 70.
