Iowa to Mesa,AZ- I40 or the "southern route" with 5th wheel

You might want to give a better location of your starting point in Iowa, but I-40 has a lot of elevation in the west. If it were me, I would take I-35 straight south to I-20 at Fort Worth to avoid most chances of snow. It'll cost more in fuel and time, but I got caught towing in snow last January, and I don't want to do that again!
