It would be worth swinging by Jackson to eat at the Old Country Store at the Casey Jones Memorial site. There is great RV parking right across the street. We were there a few weeks ago.
I first drove from Memphis to Paris (and reverse) 60 years ago. That was all on US 79, no one had ever dreamed of an interstate! On the way south, by the time we entered Tennessee US 79 was the crookedest road I'd ever been on. When we reached Paris Landing it was like entering a new world--a flat straight world.
Not many people can even imagine what I'm talking about. This is route I drove many times from East Texas to Central Kentucky in the early 1950s.
