I do as Sch91 does. I 65 as long as I can. However, if you like back roads either 231 or 331 will be fine and about the same time. May God give you a safe and fun trip. Enjoy Topsail, we did.

I always had good luck using 331 all the way to HWY 98. In the summer months Friday afternoon and Saturday can be pretty busy going south and Sunday was busy for north bound traffic.

I'm sure others who have traveled that way more recently will chime in.
