Take 101 up to Eureka.
People seem to confuse Hwy 1 with 101. Hwy 1 is the ocean drive with sheer drop-offs and hairpin turns. I wouldn't recommend it with your 35' 5er.
Hwy 101 is a beautiful drive through the giant redwoods. There are no issues for 101.
