Ogden, UT to Woodland Park, CO (Pike's Peak)

Planning my Summer trip. On the portion of the route between Ogden and Woodland Park, Garmin Basecamp routes me through Denver and CO Springs (yuk). We like to avoid urban sprawl. We aren't in any big hurry and tow a 23' Koala ultralight with an F150 V8, so aren't too concerned with mountain grades. Any suggestions as to routes? I've driven US 24 between Hartsell and WP many times, but like 25 years ago. I recall it wasn't bad then, but not sure about now.
