I live in the Mesa Az area -- When we want to travel on I40, we go to Holbrook -- We take Hwy 87 to Payson, turn right on 260,in Heber turn left on 277 -- in about 5 miles turn left on 377 -- That will take you to Holbrook -- Yo will miss all the Showlow and Snowflake area, which can get crowded -- 377 is two lane, but no climbs & very little traffic -- We`ve traveled that route countless times in our 42' coach towing a car -- BUT, check the weather before departing the Phoenix area -- It`s possible to hit snow within a short distant -- Traveling East or North, you start climbing as soon as you leave the area -- You will be around 1200 feet elevation in Mesa,& snow levels get`s down to around 4000 feet -- Beware -- Bill Willard
