Portland to Burns

Part of a future trip will have has going from Portland to Burns We will be pressed for time on this trip and want to make the best time we can. Will be driving a 27 Class C pulling a toad.
I see three options.
Option one is take 26 out of Portland to 20
Option two is take I5 out of Portland to 22 at Salem and 22 to 20
Option three is take I5 out of Portland to 20 at Albany and stay on 20 all the way to Burns
Of these three which would you recommend and why?
Or is there a even better route that I am missing?
Thanks

I apologize for not being clear on my follow up question.
Thank you Marine By Choice for your answer and I do understand your route.

I understand taking highway 97 from Madras to Redmond and then taking 126 East to 5 miles west of Pineville and then going South on SW Millican Road.
I also see just South of Madras on highway 97 highway 26 branches off of highway 97 and goes to Pineville.
Now let me rephrase my question.
What is better road and or route
From that turn off is highway 97 to Redmond and from Redmond on highway 126 to SW Millican Road
Or is highway 26 from that junction to Pineville and from Pineville on highway 126 to SW Millican Road the better road and or route?

Either road is good. Fuel is more available, and easier, in Redmond. Also from Prineville west to Millican Road it is about a 2 mile hill climb - an easy hill.
I grew up in Redmond so am partial somewhat. There is ranch land between Madras & Prineville - no towns.
Have a safe trip, whichever route you choose.

Portland over Mount Hood to Madras, Madras to Redmond, Redmond east to just before the Les Scwab warehouse about 5 miles west of Prineville, south on the road to the Bend-Burns highway (west of Millican), then east to Burns.
The highway from 126 to 20 was constructed so the Les Schwab trucks did not have to go through Bend.
Fastest and easiest road in my opinion.

So 97 from South from Madras is a better road than 26 South of Madras?

Huh? 26 and 97 merge on the north end of Madras and split again on the south end of Madras. 26 does not go to Burns unless you turn south on the road mentioned above or drive east to John Day and take 395 south.

  • If your in east Portland, 26/97/20 is your best option. If your on the west side of town, then I5 to Salem, 22/97/20 would be better.
