- stickdogExplorerWe stayed at Cantwell Rv Park down at the Denali Highway Junction. It's 27 miles south but not as crowded as those closer to the park.
- taviking22ExplorerWe stayed twice this summer at the Denali RV Park. It had good cable TV and Wifi. And, unlike so many other Alaska commercial campgrounds, they did not clearcut all the trees.
It's about 10 miles north of the Denali NP entrance and about 3 miles from Healey and the 49th State Brewing Company with its good beverages and food. The only negative thing was the road construction but hopefully that is nearing an end.
Good luck and enjoy Denali NP!! - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIWhy not stay IN Denali itself? It's a much better experience. They have an excellent water fill and dump station.
- BasketweaverzExplorerWe stayed at Cantwell because the nice lady owner came to the motorhome twice and let our dogs out for a relief trip while we took the bus up into the park. Her charge was reasonable and the dogs were comfortable. I know it had electric but don't remember about water and we don't hook up to tv unless it has been storming for days and we can't get outside!

Yes, we stayed at Riley Creek for 3 days last week and loved it. Beautiful campground and large, private sites. Best dump/fill setup I've seen. - dwightr8ExplorerWe stayed at Denali RV Park & Motel and were very happy with it. The sites are a bit tight but more than adequate. They offer dog walking for $10. The person who was going to be walking the dog came by the day before to meet the dog and get instructions. It all worked out well. The park is run by 3 retired couples who are all very nice and very helpful. Highly recommend it.
- 2hams2alaskaExplorerin 2010 we stayed several nights before going into Denali at the Tatlanika Trading Post Company Campground about 30 miles North of the Denali junction on the Parks Highway. Very nice and quiet. Friendly staff. Spaces were well separated. Although they may not have full hookups, most sites had electric hookup and there is a dump station and fill. The owners had a large vegetable garden between the campground and the highway as well as a greenhouse where they raised produce for sale to local restaurants. When there was more than their commercial customers required, the produce was available for sale to the campers.
Mike - VeebyesExplorer IIIMO the easiest way to see Denali is to stay IN Denali. It is a huge park.
By staying in Teklanika you are already almost 1 hour inside the park from the gate. When you get on the morning bus at Tek, fresh coffee in hand, you are greeted by faces that have already been commuting for well over an hour.
At the end of the day the Tek camper is first off the bus. The rest have a long time jiggling & shaking on the gravel road. A very very long day for them. - RamblinManGAExplorerhi from AZ. . . we stayed in Cantwell, which is a very nice park, but is a 54 mile round trip to Denali. We also stayed at Denali Grizzly Bear RV park, which is not pretty, not particularly clean, but 5 or 6 miles From the NP. agree that Riley Creek is the best alternative. nice campground, some green screening from your neighbors, and well looked after. No hookups are manageable for a few days. Regards, Craig
- EEWallyExplorerWe stayed 1 night in Cantwell, 1 night in Riley before 3 nights in Teklanika. It was a comfortable schedule for us.
The only thing about the Cantwell RV Park is they locked the door to the showers over night (presumably to keep the riff raff out) and opened them a bit late for us in the morning so there was a line in the morning. I'd shower in the evening next time.
