- pauljExplorer IIStorms two weeks from now shouldn't be all that different from the ones we just had. The last series soaked northern CA as well as OR and WA. I think there was a little talk of snow in the high Sierras, but nothing on the major routes.
And there's nothing forecast for the next week. - TyroneandGladysExplorerIf your two to three weeks is for one way hug the coast and take the 101 and take your time. Have taken it several times and absolutely love that route. With your setup there are some GREAT campgrounds that bigger rigs can not get into that are FANTASTIC in California and on the beach.
- Marine_By_ChoicExplorerMy choice is south on 97 as far as possible. Then east. Might be cold, but should be clear skies, as it is most if the year.

Have taken the 5 before...once!
99 works for us...preferred!! - George_HExplorer5 to Bakersfield then 58 to I40, from there you pick to your destination. I'm not a fan of I5 road conditions, but best weather probability. I usually overnight at 7 Feathers and check road condition for passes in AM.

Our home base is Reno.
This year we leave for Eloy, AZ Nov.15 (weather permitting) and we immediately get warm by taking I-80 over the hill to Woodbridge (Lodi area) for our first overnight.
Then down the 99 to Bakersfield overnight. Next is CA-58 to I-40 to Needles overnight. Next for us is the 95 to Quartzsite.
From there it depends where in AZ you are headed. We take the 10 East to the 85 to Gila Bend then the 8 to Eloy.
Reason we go over 'the hill' right away is that it is usually cold with good chance of snow. There is already snow up in the Sierra's and Sunday there were chain controls up at Donner.
Safe travels.
Good to know. I was thinking of 395 south but it's probably too late in the season for good foliage and nice weather.
Snow is another factor. - CA_TravelerExplorer IIIWeather and where in AZ are 2 of the factors. 5 has 2 significant passes.
But 5, 210 (midday), 10 is one route.
Or 90, 84, 15, 89 into Flagstaff. - Us_out_WestExplorerOur home base is Reno.

Safe travels. - korbeExplorerEarly November is normally pretty nice weather in the eastern Sierra Nevada's. However, Storms are already hitting the higher elevations so you would need to watch the forecasts.
If you do take I-5 to Redding, I would continue on down the valley, no reason at that point to head up to Reno, IMHO
If the weather is good, I might take I-5 down to Mt Shasta, then 89, 44, 36, 395 to Reno. Then 80 to Fernley, then 50 to Fallon, then 95 to Las Vegas. - ScottGNomadWhat, your going to leave all this great weather behind? ;)
