It cannot be personal defence spray. We picked ours up at Canadian Tire last summer. A little more pricey in Canada, but it was reassuring to have. It must be declared for the return trip after you've been in Alaska. I kept the reciept from our trip up, showed it at the border and all was good.
In all the crossings we have made - (well over 100) - we have never been searched.
When we pull into the gate, I hand the agent our pass ports. answer their 20 question game, thank them and move out.
When we are carrying I hand the agent our passports, and the firearms import paperwork, they tell me to park over there and come inside, once parked and inside the agent loads the serial numbers into their computer, collects the 25 Canadian and tells me to have a nice day.
Never once Have they entered the coach.
