Am 70 years old, have traveled all over the US and some of Canada. I normally put 10 to 15 thousand miles on truck and TT each year. I LIVE IN THE DETROIT AREA. I NEVER, EVER have need a gun of any kind in the D or in any situation in any state. Period.. Like a real president has said ....We only to fear ,fear itself.

I feel bad that so many folks feel the need to have firearms while camping. I have lived in the Yukon, NWT and camped all over Alberta in bear country and never carried anything but bear spray. I am happy to keep as many guns out of our country as possible, and wouldn't be happy that others around me have them.

The OP is not aaking about the US constitution. He is asking about carrying a gun into a foreign sovergn country. No matter who you are when asking permission to enter a foreign country a person is required to abide by that countries rules for permission to enter to be granted.

Not necessarily. He was asking about travel through a large portion of the US, through some of Canada, and into a large US state. The way I look at it is if Canada restricts my right to defend myself then I will not drive my RV into Canada. A different thing if one is flying into Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver, and staying in a hotel. A total different equation if one is driving for days at a time across a country. If others wish to rely on hope as guidance, in "hope something bad won't happen", then let them have at it. They don't live in the real world as far as I'm concerned.For me I want to be ready for any contingency whether human or beast. Too many horror stories out there these days for just a wing and a prayer.

If it's REALLY THAT dangerous and violent "out there", then I'll hang my hat up right now! Being cautious is one thing, living in fear is not living at all.

Folks, I get enough political **** elsewhere, would hope we could avoid it here. Is it unreasonable to ask all to keep opinions, etc out. The person merely asked about how to do something, not our opinion on whether they should or not. Our opinions one way or the other has no influence and I don't see anywhere in the question seeking others approval as to what they should do. Leave it for Facebook or whatever podium you choose.

I've always made sure we took off our sunglasses in advance and didn't make them ask. They always seemed really annoyed to have to ask.

Also, the US Federal law about national parks changed in 2010 thanks to western congressmen.

From Google: Congress approved a new law allowing loaded firearms in national parks starting Feb. 22, 2010. That means people can openly carry legal handguns, rifles, shotguns and other firearms and also may carry concealed guns as allowed by state statute.

You asked the question, "worth hassle?" That depends upon you and you only!

You should ask the question to yourself, "Do I (REALLY) need to be carrying?" .... really????? If the answer is "yes", then the hassle is worth it.

I am sorry, but I have to say that this is just complete and utter BS.

X2. I have traveled/camped in MANY parts of this country and other than our rental car being broken into in Seattle have NEVER been nervous or afraid. And most animals unless feeling threatened will retreat.
