Valdosta, GA to West Plains, MO

We will be traveling soon from Valdosta, Georgia to West Plains, Missouri. Trying to think of best route. Pretty sure going to take I-75 up to Atlanta, I-20 from there to Birmingham, AL, from there pick up I-22 to Memphis, from there take I-55/I-555 to route 63 on up into West Plains.

We will be stopping halfway, preferably somewhere just west of Birmingham. Problem is, I'm not finding any good options for campgrounds to stop at for the night that are fairly closes to I-22 (don't like to get too far off our path if can avoid it). Even if have to overnight at a truck stop or Walmart parking lot.

Any suggestions as far as the route is concerned, or (better yet), suggestions for a good place to stop half way for the night? We will be traveling with the 36' Motorhome in signature, towing a Ford Taurus.

As always, all input, suggestions are appreciated. :)

I don't think you will find anything till Fulton MS, Whitten Park a COE. Also several options in and around Tupelo MS.
If I were doing Valdosta to Birmingham I would take US-84 thru Dothan, or US-82 from Tifton to Montgomery. Then up to B'ham.

Thanks. We're actually staying at Whitten park now, indeed it was about the only option. Very nice park, though. Heading out here in a little while, to hopefully get to West plains, MO later this afternoon.

Good idea on using route 82 from Tifton to Montgomery. I went I 75 to I 20 on the way up here yesterday, may try 82 when we go back.
