This statement proves even more your responsibility and guilt.
Lets put this into another scenario. You pull up to an intersection. You cannot see the traffic lights because (insert here whatever reason you want: blinding sun in your eyes, a tree branch has fallen into the lights, an oversize load is in the way of your line of sight, ets.). Would you wait until you could see the lights, or would you enter the intersection just assuming you had a green light?
