I understand where the original poster is coming from. We tow landscaping trailers all the time, and I tell my 18 year old son that sometimes we just have to go through the intersection just to get out of everyone's way. Same as a truck backing out of a parking lot onto a road... it is technically illegal backing (even with a spotter sometimes), but nothing will ever get done in the world if some things don't get, well, done! That is why sometimes it is better to actually have a cop see you going through... sometimes.
