Arkansas State Parks to open...

This weekend. But just to Arkansas residents only and just self-contained rigs. No restrooms or bathhouses will be open. State park centers will be staffed, locations with restaurants or lodging and cabins will be open on weekends only. Sorry out-of-staters, need not apply.....
  • sayoung, we love the area around Huntsville/Berryville. We used to travel through that area going to Eureka Springs. Hope you can have your reunion, we usually have one in Iowa during September that is on hold until we get the go-ahead.

padredw and sayoung, sorry you guys are from Texas, have you ever tried going to Mountain View? Lots of private campgrounds, White River trout fishing, hiking trails, and other things in the area to do. Not sure if Blanchard Springs Caverns are open yet, and I don't think the Ozark Folk Center is open either but you might check out the area. We used to stay at Sylamore Creek Campground and it is right on the creek, nice and quiet.

Cotter Trout Dock has been a fun money pit for us for a long time :B. Our reservation at Withrow hasn't been canceled yet so maybe by June the state is going to open the camps to us foreigners . We could stay up the road on Hwy 23 at the new Eagles Rest RV park but it's kind of pricey for gravel sites plus NO shade trees
We have owned 40 acres between Huntsville & Berryville since 1970 but the road in is too steep & narrow to get our 5er in & I'm way to old to go back to tent camping . We have a family reunion every summer there but still haven't made the go/no go decision

  • Not good for us neighbors from Texas! Have appreciated Arkansas state parks for many years, but got cancelled for May 11 because I am not from Arkansas.
  • Not good for me as we had reservations at Withrow Springs starting 6-8 . There is fairly new private camp up the road but it's got no trees. We go up there every year .
  • Good for Arkansas! Another state government that understands they need to open back up with conditions. Enough of the “Nattering Nabobs of Negativism”.
  • I'll have to pick someplace in OK to camp this weekend. No need for park restrooms, so the only time I'll be close to anyone is if I pass them on a trail.

    This sounds more realistic.
